If you do a bit of part-time work say 3 days, 15 hours per week...are you then offered a reduced jobs seekers allowance or do you still get the rate you were on when fully unemployed?

You get jobseekers for the days you don't work. There's a form called x and o's where you tick the days you work, tick the days u didn't and you get JA for the days off so in short it's a reduced rate.

You can’t get JA for a day that you worked so you’ll only get JA for the other days.

Then you’ll have your earnings for the days you worked means tested.

So if you are getting €220 JA and you work 8 hours a day at minimum wage for 3 days then that will be:

    8x3x €11.30=€271

    €271-€60=€210

    €210x60%=€126

    Your means is €126

Take the €126 from your current Jobseekers of €220

= your new rate of Jobseekers will be €94.
