Three 5g - Are you still happy? (customers 3+ months)

    Hi Guys,

If you're a Three 5g home broadband subscriber and are with them longer than 3 months or so .. are you still happy with them? Are you getting consistently decent speeds even during peek times?

I was previously using 4g Three broadband ... they were great while I was in the cooldown period but then it all went horrible ( consistently .1 - 3mbs during peek times.. I was livid and switched asap )

I've also seen on their site https://www.three.ie/buy/broadband.html there's a caviate with the Data: Unlimited * that says '*3 Broadband Unlimited fair usage of 750GB per billing cycle applies.' .. but there was a notice saying all their data fair usage data limits were removed.. what is the case? Are they truly unlimited now or doing the 750gb limit?

My current provider Imagine is just so bad during peek times .. I'm wondering if Threes peek time for 5g would still be better (and I'm also assuming it won't be as bad as their 4g peek time speeds) .. I'm really interested in how Three are during the evenings .. 6pm-12pm really

    Thanks for any input!

The fair usage policy was dropped last August so it's genuinely unlimited. Don't have the 5g package myself, just the 4g. I'm lucky that there's a mast near me plus I don't have contention issues. Speeds are nearly always above 40 Mb/s, sometimes nearly 100 at quieter times. I'm not a heavy user so the 4g is fine for me.

What’s the deal with 5g and three? My father has a 4g router and is prepay. 5g is available in the area but the router isn’t capable. I had thought he could just get at 5g router and put his sim in and he’d be in 5g. Is there specific 5g prepay sims/packages?

No longer the case, since 16 th Jan all plans should be 5G enabled*. This does not mean you will avail for it nor that speeds will be better than you have on 4G.

Ah right. I had a quick scan of the site earlier and thought it said something like “5g for all” and listed very basic steps to get it, no mention of extra steps to enable. I’ll check it out in more detail again. His speeds on the router were 3-5mb. I did a test on my iPhone on 5g and it hit 122mb. So quite the difference for him!

I on purpose used " * " to indicate that it "should be". Myself had weird behavior when 5G appeared available only since i visited three shop despite enabled on the phone all the time. Same time three rep in the shop was giving contradict info. Speed you have on the phone and router might differ depending on model capabilities.
