Refund of Tax on Pension

Hi All

So, my dad was receiving a small private pension payment for however amount of years, when he passed away in June 2022, that pension payment automatically was to transfer to my mam.

After a few months of no payments, the payments started but they were being taxed - she is 70+ and only other income she receives is state pension

Pension company said that now it is January, the tax needs to be claimed back through revenue on line so we set up her online account and have gone into the tax return section but i don't know what to do then to request the refund!

I have asked revenue for help through the my enquirys but they have just said that the tax return needs to be completed but that's what we don't know how to do!

Anyone able to help out here?

You should see a section called "review your tax 2019-2022"

Click into this, you should then see a section called "statement of liability", and to the right of this you will see a "request" button

Proceed from there and you will be given a preliminary result which will tell you the underpayment or overpayment amount, based on the circumstances it is obviously more likely to be an overpayment of tax, ie tax that will be refunded

Proceed through from there to submit the form and get the refund

Hi, thanks for the reply! I done that but when it came to Add Income and Add Tax Credits, that's where i got lost! I don't know where i put in the details (or if that is where i even put in details!) for the pension payment?!

And another problem i have is, my dad passed away in June and it took until November for her to receive his pension payments so now on the revenue website, it shows that all she got was a payment in November and December even though she got it backdated, it's not showing, just two standard months!
