RTE 's News2day is 20

    The only remaining news program on RTE 2 has a big birthday this week.I like the way they are doing a little 00s nostalgia for the kids, although they didn't mention that RTE 2 actually had viewers and made an effort back then 😆😆😆... When you think about it though, it's a bit of a disgrace that it took RTE until 2003 to have a children's news program, the BBC had been doing it since about 1972. https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2023/0117/1349022-news2day-technology-2003/

    They actually had a news programme for children in the mid to late 1980s AFAIK. Teresa Mannion was one if its reports, can't really remember it, lasted a few years I think. I heard it mention on one of the archive programmes as Newsround was mentioned by younger viewers.

    At this point News2Day should have been extended, AFAIK it was part funding by the Ombudsman for Children or some other organisation, so very surprised it is still going without that funding.
