I'm busy with work this week, so already used my FT (which I may regret closer to the weekend)

    Gabriel - out

    Aurier - in

2FT's for me. Darwin has to go, KDB probably too.

KDB - Odegard maybe, then Darwin to Kane.

Darwin > Toney for me. So expect him to get suspended about 2 mins after I confirm transfers

Did any watch the Newcastle game? Thinking it may be time to shift Almiron.

Was thinking the same - maybe a Brighton mid (mitoma or march) or else odegaard

    Digne has gotta go.

Salah and Wilson also on borrowed time :-(

    Anyone looking at WC?

Plenty of apparent deadwood in my team Digne, Cucurella, Almiron, Mount and KDB have been big stinkers. KDB just isn't worth it at the price point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭bantee

Cucurella, who's been an unmitigated disaster of a transfer during the World Cup, out for anyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,383 ✭✭✭✭gammygils

Have to get rid of Martial for starters he was only supposed to be a one week punt.

So Tony Two Gloves out for Toney

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,595 ✭✭✭macraignil

Saw the Newcastle game and Fulham were playing well as they have done for a lot of the season. Almiron played well and it was only some good defending stopped him getting more opportunities. Should have had an assist when he dribbled across the pitch and played a short pass to Saint-Maximin who had a shot that could easily have been a goal but went narrowly wide. I thnk he will get some more opportunities in the next few games so not a priority for me to ship him out anyway.

Took a one week punt on Mahrez since he had a double so have used my free transfer already to get in March to replace him. I know Mahrez still has potentially another game to get a return this week but March seems to be in form and has a run of fixtures that look postive for him scoring again.

I also have Mahrez, he didn't get much game time first half of season, so hoping he gets a run of games, he has the ability to go on a streak and at his price i'll hold for a while, I was very tempted with Grealish but he seems to share time with Foden so thats a bit more punty.

I'll probably do Zaha to March, bench Martial and when Nunez is back do that transfer.

I'm also in that Brighton midfielder bandwagon, but I'm gonna be doing with Mitoma. Had my eye on him for a while and was thinking of him for this GW. He looks a real live wire. Perhaps more of a player who will take on players to create an opening and assist or assist the goalscorer perhaps. Teams may start to double up on him which will leave more space for March.

That said, the commentary on Saturday said that March had gone 58 games without scoring a PL goal but now has 4 in 4. He has only scored 8 PL goals in his career, in 6 seasons. He has played wing back a good bit though to fair. This is definitely a purple patch but how long will it last? Might be the time to hop on, or it might be coming to a finish.

Seriously thinking of taking a -8 for:

    Cancelo to Botman

    KdB to Odegard

    Mitro to Kane

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 313 ✭✭The Guru 123

That should be affordable without Cancelo to Botman? So just a -4 for the other 2? That looks far better to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

seems unnecessary, Cancelo and KDB have a good fixture this week and Mitro in decent form. Kane has City next as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,039 ✭✭✭Gusser09

Seems like it might be time to either bench or transfer Almiron. Very poor form currently.

Untied v Arsenal will be a tough one to call. I have Shaw,White, Odegaard and Rashford.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭Pogue eile

All this talk of gettting rid of KDB is madness, at home to Wolves and a double in GW23 for the third top scoring midfielder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭crushproof

Mid priced midfields such as Rashford, Saka and Martinelli are just a point or two behind him. Not to mention other mids in flying form. 13 points in the last 5 from a £12.5m asset isn't good enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭Pogue eile

surely price is largely irrelevant this season with all the budget options

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,469 ✭✭✭Shedite27

He's on the third page of midfielders by Form. Those points he's got were a long time ago. The skill of this game is to keep up with the form players, if you get Martinelli, Trossard, Almiron, Odegard, JWP etc at their purple patches, you get much furtehr ahead than holding someone because his average is top 3

You have very conveniently ignored the bit about his fixtures! I am not saying that I would get him in if I didn't have him, but wasting a transfer for a player with his fixtures and pedigree is beyond reckless.

What do people think of Almiron out for Mahrez in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,469 ✭✭✭Shedite27

His fixtures? The 6 games since he scored last were Fulham, Brentford, Leeds, Everton, Chelsea and United. He's had plenty of plum fixtures to return, holding just because he did it before isn't a good tactic IMO. He was awful in the WC for Belgium and form has continued since unfortunately

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭Pogue eile

Well I see that he is due a price rise tonight, is the third most transferred in player and is the second highest projected player over the next 4 gameweeks, I guess I am not alone in thinking transfering him out is madness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I wouldn't be buying KDB myself, but as an owner I'm not going to sell at the same time. Hard sell when he has a DGW coming up. As well as attractive fixtures against Wolves, Forest & Bournemouth. Although rotation will come into play when facing the latter 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,319 ✭✭✭thefallingman

Might get Wout in as a differential, want to see if nunez is fit i still believe he'll be a machine once he calms down a bit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭sheroman01

So many options! Digne out probably number one priority.

    Digne to Botman/Burn/City Defender

Other options, that can probably wait another week:

    Mitro to Nketiah/Wilson

    Amiron to Arsenal/Brighton midfielder

    Mitoma in Silva out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

    Considering a WC of

    Meslier - Kepa

    Bueno - Lewis - Trippier - Ming's - Doherty

    Salah - Buendia - Mitoma - Rashford - Odegard

    Kane - Haaland - Nketiah

    Any thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,847 ✭✭✭Cartman78

If I was wild carding I wouldn't bother with Salah tbh..... himself and Liverpool are pure scutter at the minute

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,951 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Why are you sticking with Salah? Based on form he has none, compared to say Bruno at United, and then maybe use the cash to get another city player, even just Ederson and have Ward, or even Kepa if you prefer. The leeds lad Gnonto looks decent and the way Leeds play could be worth a punt.

I’d be strongly looking at Bailey, Gnonto and JWP with the intention of starting them every week. Definitely JWP. I know we have a glut of cheap midfield options but they are better than their price. I’d want two Arsenal too.

Hard to justify Salah but, like you, I’d be tempted to keep him too. No doubt he’ll be a much better option when Diaz, Bobby and Jota are available again.

I think your defence, bar Trippier and Kepa, is pretty shocking. If you’re not going with Almiron or Wilson then you should have two Newcastle defenders. Mings ? How could anyone want to own him ? I hear you on Villa defence though and would look at Cash.

I think 5 in the middle is a must so Ferguson comes in at 4.5m up front.

I think having a good (in form) team will also mean being able to leave money in the bank. You’re just going to have to get your head around not spending all your money.

edit - all that said I’d try my best to keep my WC at this stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Bruno and KDB are both options there alright. Maybe Bruno to pick up that double then onto KDB for their double

Well I have two arsenal in Nketiah and Odegard and the plan is one of Mitoma or Buendia for Saka for their double.

My thinking on the defence is this

Lewis - he'll play every second game, 3.9 for a starting city full back is great, have a playing sub.

There's only four teams that can be relied on to keep a CS - Arsenal, City, United & Newcastle

So if I want three arsenal attackers, which I do, then Arsenal are out. Lewis covers city to some extent, Ederson being the onky nailed option.

I'm assuming Newcastle and United win their league cup semis, so both blank in 25 alongside Brentford and Brighton, so that's why Ming's is not a Newcastle defender.

Now if I switched Mitoma to JWP that would ease that issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

I think I prefer Buendia to Bailey also, the models don't agree

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,951 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Don’t get the kdB love - but maybe I’m bias as I just got rid - he’s been poor FF wise since the WC, and as seen last night City can play without him and win. For the price he is you need to be sure he’s going to play the double likewise Lewis. You know Ederson will play unless he’s injured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Ya KDB has been bad but he's the most likely mid to play both games in the double. With Lewis you're accepting he'll play one and that's ok because he's 3.9

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

If I went Pope over Kepa it would double that defence and leave me ok for the blanks

Just got a hunch and did Mitro to Gnonto last night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,209 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

Not something I'd do. Your removing one of the most consistent and proven goalscorers this season(11 goals in 16) for a flavor of the month guy with 1 goal in the league. Also Leeds signed a new striker for a club record fee during the week and Bamford has returned.

Hope it works out for you though as Gnonto is fun to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

    Have moved onto

    Meslier - Kepa

    Bueno - Lewis - Trippier - Burn - Doherty

    Bruno - Bailey - JWP - Rashford - Odegard

    Kane - Haaland - Nketiah

Leaves me with enough in the bank to go JWP/Rashford to Saka for their DGW or if both are still flying Bailey -> Martinelli

Bruno can become KDB or Mahrez for their DGW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I wouldn't say City can be relied on for a CS. 2 in their last 10.

The Man City DEF in general can't be relied on for attacking returns now either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

Tempted to take a punt on Bamford, 3 goals in the last 2 games since he came back, but will probably go with Toney.

Other free transfer will be Cancelo/Doherty to Botman and a potential -4 if I sell Cancelo to upgrade Andreas to Mitoma

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Hence Lewis but I'd also expect them to revert to the mean

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,075 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

I wouldn't be getting rid of any city or arsenal players with the DGW coming up in 3 weeks

I'd be surprised if last night's victory doesn't light a fire unde City and we see them perform a little better.

If they win the next game, they're only 2 points behind Arsenal. How will that young team deal with that sort of pressure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,039 ✭✭✭Gusser09

Thinking of getting rid of Salah for either Rodrigo, JWP or even De Bruyne. Tough call.

Issue is I'd like to get rid of Kane for Toney for possible differentials gains as everyone seems to to have Mitro,Kane,Halaand.

Don't want to take the -4 though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,441 ✭✭✭shmeee

It's an absolute punt is all, nothing more just to try and gain a bit of ground in my ML's. Still 50/60 behind top and staying at that level for last number of weeks, so this will have me either 40 behind or 80 behind maybe. I'll take the risk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,039 ✭✭✭Gusser09

Ok. Ive taken Salah out and put KDB back in. They have Wolves at home.

I'm putting Almiron on the bench and starting Perrera. Thoughts on this one? Almirons form has been pox whereas Perrera is usually good for about 3 points.
