Moving from USA to Ireland - Irish mobile phone number

Can you set up an Irish phone number whilst keeping your USA phone? query from someone moving to work here for a year.

Any advice you can offer in respect of above? do they need to get a second phone?

Generally unlocked modern phones will work in both places, there can be some network issues with older phones. This is a good site to compare networks here v's what they have on their network in the US.

Outside of network compatibility there is a move to no physical sim cards by some phone brands, the latest iPhone 14 from US has no sim card slot, it uses eSIM which I believe Vodafone is the only provider of here in Ireland that currently offers this service.

I'm using a Dual-Sim phone .... one SIM for the US number, and the other one for the US number. Both work fine!
