    She was always told that her pension is useless as she's post 2011 qualified or something? Had a lovely man from Cornmarket laugh at her about it in front of her colleagues in 2016 when she was only teacher in the school who was on the new pension scheme. She wants to stay away from them for that reason alone

    The earlier the better. Pay the minimum to start the savings. I'm sorry I didn't start years ago. Income protection also.

    I like PSRA. They've done a few talks in Cork and I liked them. It's very hard to get impartial advice in Ireland. It's very expensive. The advisors are all trying to sell you something, and it's the kick back from that that makes the advice affordable. Anyone who started in 2014 will have to work til 67 (if I remember correctly), so should start AVCs asap if they want to retire before that.

    Not the most tactful but they are correct, a commissioned report found that a teacher will just about get the same amount of money out as they put in if they are in the new pension scheme. They'd be better off putting the money into the post office!

    Yeah ,didnt the union state that youd have to live to be 134 to break even …we have been (or certainly our young colleagues royally shafted vis a vis pension contributions and entitlements ,sick leave etc .Already plenty of very ill teachers in staffrooms due to sick leave cuts ….vile FFG
