Can't authorise payments on Android Phone

If I make a payment from an app on my phone it requires authorisation from my banking app. When I open the authorisation item on the phone it brings me into the banking app and I authorise the payment. However, when I switch back to the first app it has lost its state and refreshes and displays the home page - so I'm kicked out of the payment process and can't complete it. This has happened with a number of apps so it's not app-related. Is there a setting on Android that fixes this? Or do I need to clear the cache on the app? I have an OPPO but it happened on my previous phone too. Sometimes it works but often it doesn't.

    Thanks!

Check that push notifications are enabled on your banking app.

On my push notifications, when the notification is received, I tap accept on my notification shade and it's job done.

Eg: if you're using chrome, you go to the checkout screen, tap pay, the push notification is generated, you accept that and then go back to chrome and transaction completes.

What flow are you following? Is it across any/all apps if you buy in dedicated app versus via browser?

@kw70 it sounds like Android is killing the app when you put it into the background. It does this to preserve battery life and ensure resource availability. It's particularly obvious on phones with low RAM, and some manufacturer implementations are more aggressive about it than others. This website has some suggestions on things you can try to preserve the app: https://dontkillmyapp.com/oppo. You could also try manually killing all background apps before starting a payment process, to maximise the resources available to just the payment app and your banking one.
