I am moving there soon and work on the Monivea road. Is it, for example 8.15 - 10 am Oranmore to Galway, and 5pm -7pm in the evening, from Galway to Oranmore? would really help me plan my days. thanks

This should be on the Galway forum but to answer your question, it depends on your mode of transport, especially at those times

Car - yeah those times are peak, possibly earlier for both. Will take you up to about 45 mins in peak traffic, worse if its raining

Bus - same, but you'll have bus lane on Dublin rd for most of the inward journey but in a few years you'll have bus lanes both ways. Bus will take approx the same as the car due to stops and going to the clinic

Bike - won't make any difference. Get an e-bike and you'll do it in approx 22 mins regardless of time of day, a regular bike will do it in approx 30 mins, maybe less/more depending on the bike and your fitness. Its only 9km which is nothing on the bike. To give you an idea, its the equivalent of cycling from Cappagh park to GMIT, totally doable

The bus from Oranmore to Wellpark is decent enough and reliable. To be in work at Monivea Road at 8.15 though you'd really have to get the 7.15 bus which sails in at that time.

In a car, if you left at between 7.15-7.30am traffic isn't too bad at all and shouldn't be too much delay. Between 7.45 and 8.45 is fairly horrible.

Outbound, between 5 and 6 traffic would be pretty bad, but after 6 should be fairly OK and closer to 7 completely fine.

try google maps app - select destination, select Directions, then from the 3 dots menu button (top right), set depart time and it'll give you a 'typical' travel time based on aggregated historical data.

    🌦️ 6.7kwp, 45°, SSW, mid-Galway 🌦️
