Another External Insulation Question!

Just a quick question, as I wouldn't be too up to date on this stuff myself.

Having a retrofit done on a semi-detached house, and checked on site the other day and noticed that the EWI boards were being mechanically fixed only (not adhesively). I asked the lads doing it, and was told not using an adhesive didn't make a difference etc etc etc. I intend to ask their boss about it on Monday.

Just wondering does it make a difference and in an ideal world should an adhesive have been used?

Absolutely should be bonded with adhesive. Mechanical fixings are only a back-up to the adhesive. Find out the manufacturer and type of insulation and then search for a NSAI cert. The exact criteria for installation will be on it.

Also are they going below internal finished floor level and to the rafter (removing facia/soffit) at the top - No point in just insulating the middle when top/bottom is not done...
