Scope for cz 452 .22lr

Hi I’m a new comer to shooting and I recently picked up my first rifle which is a cz 452 .22lr. There is a 4x40 scope on it but I want something better with Magnification.Has anyone got any recommendations for a good scope? ,the gun will be used for rabbits and vermin out to 100-120 yards or so.Any advice greatly appreciated

CZ452, brilliant rifle. Element, Helix, IIRC, would be my recommendation. Have one on a b/a .22lr used for same reason as you. Great scopes. Get Sportsmatch mounts.

Currently looking at Hawke HAWKE VANTAGE ~ 4-12×40 AO (MIL DOT) for €100 in sportsman, Finglas.

Similar use as yourself but with a view to get into a little target shooting.

I've one of those on a 22,no complaints with it,side focus would be slightly handier though

Guys bit of advice before buying a scope, make sure the turrets and reticle are of the same angular measurement. i.e.

ret moa turrets moa, or ret mills turrets mills.

a lot of the older model scopes have mils ret and moa turrets.

It is indeed, so unless your good at math's its not that handy. If your using your reticle to measure for corrections and then having to convert that to moa to dial your turret, it can get messy.

As I said above Mil-Mil or moa-moa.

The other thing about 2nd focal plane scopes are they have to be at a certain magnification to correspond to your turrets if using them to read misses.

One downside to First focal plane scopes is the lower magnification settings are very small to see and read on the reticle.

If you're buying a new scope I'd spend a bit extra and buy something with side focus,especially if you may have plans to use nv add ons like pard or sytong .The hawke 3-12×44sf or 4-16×44sf are good but a bit more expensive than ao. They have half mil dot reticles.

Thanks yes I’m looking at hawke vantage 30 WA 4-16x50 IR SF with the .22 subsonic reticle. The pre calculated reticle seems very handy for what I want it for.Has anyone any experience with this scope or the .17hmr reticle model?

I had the hawke with the hmr specific reticle, didn't like it, very poor glass I thought, in low light it was useless and in bright sunshine it looked fogged up. I sent it back.

Only my opinion but very similar stories on some UK forums.

But if you are just target shooting to those exact distances on the reticle then maybe it'll be fine.

I socond the Hawke Vantage.

I had one on a CZ452 and the reticle had distances marked on it that corresponded to distances for a .22 subsonic.

It was bang on too. Just zero at 50 yds if I remember correctly and then use holdover out to 200 I think it was.
