Incident at Drumcondra and use of Connolly to Newcomen Junction to Glasnevin Junction line

While not wishing to discuss the sad incident itself, would the line from Connolly to Glasnevin Junction via Newcomen Junction be on enough of the driver's route cards to provide a diversion in this circumstance ?

Capacity is the issue. A lot of traffic on the Maynooth's and from Hazelhatch in the rush hour to try and squeeze through, especially at short notice. It's barely doable off peak at the best of times.

Well, there is no access at Glasnevin from Newcomen to the Phoenix Park line so the only option for those is Heuston.

As it only has access to Connolly P7 I'd assume there is a working timetable in existence to run the Maynooth line as well as possible just to/from Connolly via Newcomen in the event of the main being blocked.

I was on an outbound Docklands service which got obstructed by something (it was extremely windy, I believe something actually fell on to the track) and was able to reverse to 7 via Newcomen - presumably drivers are able to use it in emergencies at least?

Newcommen is in the route knowledge of all drivers based at Connolly who operate Maynooth line services

As above it is not possible to reach Heuston from P7, well currently yes, this will change in the future with DART+

The plans for DART+ do not show the ability to switch from the GSWR line from Heuston to the MGWR line along the canal at Glasnevin Junction.

It’s not on the DART+ West Railway Order drawings which show the existing set up.
