Planning on pulling the trigger on a Renault Arkana 1.6 E-TECH full hybrid 145 Engineered.

looking for feedback / Opinions on the Arkana

Strange that you went from a Captur go a Scenic and back to a Captur.

The Arkana in the right colour is a great looking car. It's not a perfect car do it has some flaws but if you can live with them flaws then it's a great car.

I have one and its perfect for our needs. Came from a 212 Qashqai which I just couldn't warm to so managed a straight swap to a 222 Arkana.

Compared to the Qashqai it has more bells and whistles with a decent entertainment system and digital dials which are a nice touch as well as satnav with I think 4 years of free updates. Build wise it seems sturdier than the Qashqai especially the doors, they just seem to have a good bit of weight in them.

Fuel economy is excellent. I mainly do short trips in city traffic and I'm currently getting an average of 6.2L per 100Km. The hybrid engine is very smooth and quiet and on days when you don't need the heater on high the battery will do a fair distance.

Its biggest issue is power. As I said its fine for me with a lot of city driving but on motorways it can be a noisy trip up to 120/130 but once there and with adaptive cruise control it manages those speeds no problem. Even at 120 the battery will kick in every so often!

Cant compare to your other cars but I'd recommend it and ignoring the power issues it is a very good looking car.

It was the top selling Renault in 22. I think it was only released at the end of 2021 here

I have a 221 Arkana. Very happy with it. Most of my driving is from Cork to Dublin. Adaptive cruise control makes that a breeze. A function on loads of newer cars but was new for me. Can get noisy accelerating at higher speeds or going up hills even at lower speeds. Take off is quick though. The infotainment system is good but just use android auto most of the time. Boot is plenty big at least for my needs (golf bag and caddy car).

I like the look of them. Look well in a decent spec and right colour. Most seem to be hybrid automatic which is where you want to be. Seem like fairly good value relative

There are plenty of them about. No matter where I go whether it's in Dublin, Kildare or Offaly I always see them about. The Orange on them really stands out and it's looks great in orange.

A person beside me had a 221 arkana, I saw it being towed on 2 occasions, she now has a 222 Arkana. Wonder was it replaced under warranty.

Rear space & read legroom is a little cramped but the boot is decent so that's the compromise I guess.

My wife has had one for a year now (Jan 2022) and put 25k miles on it.

It’s the RS E Tech and is really highly spec’ed. Heated seats and steering wheel, rear camera, sat nav, adaptive CC, apple play, self parking, electric seats, huge boot, etc.

She loves it.

Only 2 complaints -

1. The seats are impossible to keep clean as they’re meshed and dirt gets under the mesh
2. Its gutless. She drives mainly short journeys so it suits her, but it wouldn’t be my first choice for a motorway commuter car. I actually don’t drive it as I find it so slow (coming from a G30 520D). Even our kids comment on how slow it is.

Comes in 2 flavours Iconic and s-edition with mild hybrid and etech. All the ones I have seen are etech and one guy I know mentioned not to go for the mild hybrid but not sure why? I assume bigger engine is better as its big yoke.

RS one looks bit flashier from the outside with nice tinted windows and chrome. Guess you could get iconic and add these?

anyone else have one and have opinions?

Also what are renault like for trade in and not using PCP? Is there deals to be done

We traded in a 2015 X Trail 7 seater with well over 300k kms and a bit rough round the edges.

Nissan offered us around €12k off a new Qashqai but she didn’t like the Qashqai once she sat in it and I thought it was massively overpriced - you have to go over €40k for a model with parking sensors, so the Arkana offered a lot more value to me.

We were offered €10k for the X Trail from one Renault dealer; and €13.5k from another. We obviously went with the higher offer and just before we pulled the trigger the other Renault garage offered to match the €13.5k trade in offer - so it’s worth shopping around. In the end the garage that took the X Trail sold it for a few hundred euro less that they gave us for it.!

The Arkana is old technology.

Its based on the old Kadjar, which isn't sold anymore because it was eating the Qashqai's lunch and that originates back in 2015!

There is, of course, a new Qashqai with a MHEV option, but it's crap.

So go and buy the best car in that field, the Skoda Karoq 1.5 and stop drinking the Kool Aid about hybrids, because they are all sh1te

Yeah,

Will ring a few dealers as the trade in could be the thing that swings it. You dont have any knowledge on why ppl seem to be going for the full hybrid as opposed to the mild one. The one dealer I had a chat too mentioned for low volume of trips the mild was better or maybe they had to offload more mild versions. ...not sure :)

TBH our budget allowed us to buy the highest spec / cost model and that was the RS E Tech and so that’s what we went with (that was what the dealer steered us towards anyway).

from speaking to a dealer is Sounds like the mild hybrid is for standard driving scenarios and the full hybrid would be for alot of city type driving where you are generally in traffic.

We work from home in Kildare so we went full hybrid. Spend 99% of the time in the locality and are rarely shooting up the N7 or M50

Economy and comfort suits us better then speed which I know the Engineered model is lacking.

we are on pcp with Renault finance since 2013 hence the car history so we have to change every 3 years and get new one.

Come on in fairness - no matter what car anyone would suggest other than a Skoda / VW sone people will only criticise and say every other brand is awful and you can’t beat a Skoda etc - what a boring way to look at life - Some Renaults are beautiful as are other brands - they have improved so much over the years and can match on reliability .

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a base model Arkana. I know the mid trim is maybe the place to be but we're at the top of our budget with base spec.

Any owners here with the base spec have any thoughts on it?

I do not like black badges. Do not see the point of that at all. You might as well not have any badges on if that is the case. You need the Renault badge/logo in chrome to show it off and not for it to be in black for no one to see.

No kept it simple. Have it booked in to be tinted next weekend.

Very happy so far. Nice smooth drive and the base spec still feels fairly comprehensive compared to the mid spec of other rivals.

Was looking up the ROS website to get a vrt price for an Arkana but it doesn't appear on the list.

How else can I get a price?Haven't bought yet, just trying to work out if it's worth it .
