Wild goats

Have about 40 wild goats coming onto my land from a coillte Forrestry.

Anyone any suggestions what to do with them?

Not sure exactly what their current protection status is - but see Dept Ag press release above. Hang on and you might get funding for having them yet if not now!! :)

AFAIK the Old Irish Goat is protected but feral goats are not and can be culled. Below are some links that are worth reading and may help you to identify which you have. If you need to cull them then I reckon people that are used to stalking deer would be the best to get - your local gun club chairman/secretary would know of someone with suitable skills. Alternatively, contact the forestry owner and ask them to deal with their problem.

Edit to add - The Old Irish Goat is a protected species so be careful. As @Furze99 posted above, if they are Old Irish Goats they are probably worth more alive than dead.

Feck, if it have been Sligo/Mayo/Leitrim/ Roscommon I would've trimmed them for you.

You can go online and contact the forest manager and report it, they in turn should have a course of action e.g. someone's details of could manage deer/goats
