Since early October, we've either been knee deep in water or freezing. There's another 3 months of it to go.

Earliest sunset was over a week ago, won't be long now until there's a "grand stretch in the evenings". Then we'll be into "Jaysus, the fooking heat" etc. The years will fly by and we'll all be dead soon.

January is actually the coldest month, and we're usually in winter jacket weather until late March at least

But we tend not to get extended cold periods unlike colder countries. So 2-3 days of snow instead to 3 months solid

So I guess winter seems shorter because we keep getting milder weather

Interesting fact, when we get a cold snap it tends to be what's called wet cold. This means we get a freeze thaw cycle, so the air gets damp and conducts heat better, meaning you feel colder

Below -7C it's called dry cold and the dry air acts as an insulator. As long as you wrap up warm and stay dry then you'll probably feel fairly warm

This isn't the say the Irish handle the cold better, we definitely don't. But it's okay to complain about how cold it feels outside 😁

Just be aware that the mornings will still get darker for another couple of weeks. The daylight is gained in the evenings.

November to April inclusive are usually fairly shîte, wintery.. cold, wet, windy, icy at times…

July and August fairly decent… September / October, May and June can be a lottery….

the one positive about our weather is that we tend not to get too many extremes.

but when we do we tend to hit the wall a bit but thankfully it’s not often.

I’ve been in Copenhagen in February / March and fukkkk cold as..

Experienced lot of snow and minus to freezing temperatures in Copenhagen but their public services are super efficient in clearing it.

Personally I'm quite happy to wake in darkness if it means a long stretch in the evening

General insomnia usually has me awake at 6am thinking of the world's problems
