Lidl Turkeys

I see Lidl have fresh Turkeys on sale from today 20th December. So do you just go in and buy it and bring it home or are they taking orders and you collect it Christmas Eve does anyone know, thanks

Just got an answer from lidl via whatsapp, you have to take it away with you, they don't take orders. So if you bought it more than 2 days before Christmas you'd have to freeze it I presume

I bought a turkey today in ALDI and use by date was 27th. Assuming you have a fridge big enough to hold it no need to freeze.

And for future reference, you could do pre-orders with Tesco and ALDI for click and collect. But that's closed now.

How does a Fresh Turkey keep for that long though? I'd be afraid it would be gone off by christmas!

Well if you buy a chicken in the supermarket it would have a use by date of + 3 to 5 days.

If you're buying a turkey, pay attention to whether there is a use by date on the packaging. If there is you can go by that.

Otherwise yes it would be 1-2 days.

We can't discuss food safety matters on boards so I can't say much more than that.
