Well all I can say is, thank goodness for lifelines!!

On two fronts - I hadn't a notion of using mine yet, but got distracted and totally forgot to send in an answer.

And the answer i would have sent in was almost certainly going to be Mayo.

    Phew!!

    To the movies today!

Question 17: name one of the actors playing santa below

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,640 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    One hour warning for @StrawbsM

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,640 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    Today's santas were...

Tim Allen (The Santa Clause), Edward Asner (Elf), Jim Broadbent (Get Santa), Kurt Russell (The Christmas Chronicles)

David Huddleston (Santa Claus: The Movie), Edmund Gwenn (Miracle on 34th Street, 1947), Richard Attenborough (Miracle on 34th Street, 1994), Paul Giamatti (Fred Claus)

Slightly surprisingly, Paul Giamatti is the sheep, guess he has a distinctive face but people think he's not obvious.

Kurt Russell is just one behind.

Tim Allen is surprisingly low, and Richard Attenborough is the best answer luvvies.

No one got Edmund Glenn, from the original Miracle

Bit of a slip for current spooner, Strawbs, that could be costly

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,640 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Barna steals a march on BuileBeag, but that lifeline will come into play one day. Edser has a good jump into the podium positions but it's all still very tight in the midtable.

Will Strawbs' lifeline help her off the bottom? Or is the gap getting too bad. Butty must be breathing a little sigh of relief today

For the Santa, it just happened that I watched a bit of Miracle (Richard Attenborough) last weekend.

For this one, I picked the one I knew straightaway. Most likely a sheep 🐑 but what the heck!

Delighted for ya.... any lifelines on sale, I'll pay well.... 😫

I was tempted to play mine today, but I'm keeping it in case there's a day I totally forget to send an answer in. 😂

I'm already practising my gracious loser face. I'm fairly sure I won my wooden spoon on PEEHS 🤣 and I have no hope this time around either 🤣.

Must say I'm enjoying the game though!

    Today's Scrooges were...

Patrick Stewart (A Christmas Carol, 1999), Albert Finney (Scrooge, 1970), Kelsey Grammer (A Christmas Carol, 2004), Jim Carrey (A Christmas Carol, 2009)

Michael Caine (The Muppet Christmas Carol), Tim Curry (A Christmas Carol, 1997), Guy Pearce (A Christmas Carol, TV Series, 2019), Christopher Plummer (The Man Who Invented Christmas, 2017)

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,640 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Jim Carrey sheeps, perhaps as people thought it was a clever answer!

The more obvious Michael Caine is just a point back

The real movers are Necro with a fine ace, and jluv and Liz with just 2 each.

ari and aaron suffer today, though it's a travesty that Michael Gambon scores as badly as Jeremy Beadle

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,640 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Barna holds on to the top, but Necro's ace and Shane's see them jump into second, just a point back.

BuileBeag is still lurking and holding a lifeline, as are DvB and guiri. The bookies still have it wide open

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

I was convinced that Patrick Stewart would sheep! Happy enough with 4 so, considering. 🙂

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,927 ✭✭✭StrawbsM

I thought Albert Finney would be a top scorer so stayed off him.

Some more pointless word games today!

Below is a list of people born on Christmas Day, but with alternate letters missing. I've also given the year of birth to help you

Question 19: name one of the Christmas Day births listed below

    1642 I_A_C   _E_T_N

    1899 H_M_H_E_   B_G_R_

    1944 J_I_Z_N_O

    1949 S_S_Y   _P_C_K

    1954 A_N_E   _E_N_X

    1957 S_A_E   _A_G_W_N

    1968 H_L_N_   C_R_S_E_S_N

    1971 J_S_I_   T_U_E_U

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,927 ✭✭✭StrawbsM

I have 7.5 - just can't figure out half of one of them!

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 6,390 Mod ✭✭✭✭HildaOgdenx

Oh just figured one of the two I couldn't get 😁

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

I figured out 3 on the way to work, then when it was nearly time to get off the bus, so I picked the sheepiest one and sent it in so I wouldn't forget. 😄

    Here's today's answers...

    1642 I_A_C _E_T_N Isaac Newton

    1899 H_M_H_E_ B_G_R_ Humphrey Bogart

    1944 J_I_Z_N_O Jairzinho

    1949 S_S_Y _P_C_K Sissy Spacek

    1954 A_N_E _E_N_X Annie Lennox

    1957 S_A_E _A_G_W_N Shane MacGowan

    1968 H_L_N_ C_R_S_E_S_N Helena Christensen

    1971 J_S_I_ T_U_E_U Justin Trudeau

We've got a couple of big scores, an ace and one that wasn't picked at all...

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,640 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

It's a big score for Sissy Spacek.

Butty aces with Shane MacGowan, which will affect the bottom of the table.

Shane and guiri pick up a handy 2pts, which will affect the top of the table

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,640 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Shane jumps into a joint lead, but it's still close enough at the top...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,927 ✭✭✭StrawbsM

Shane fecking MacGowan! Well done butty on that one. And who is the J one? Those were the 2 I didn’t get

    Can’t believe nobody picked Annie

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,378 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

I had to Google who Jairzinho was.im not a big football person.

Raging I didn't go for Annie Lennox,I thought it was too obvious.
