    Hello,

We are looking for cheap flights from Shannon to Miami. Travelling in the last week of March 2023.

It's costing €520 per person via Skyscanner.

I am wondering if prices will go down after Christmas/New Years??

Or is this the cheapest rate I am getting?

    Thanks

No one knows for sure. I would almost wait until this Friday as many companies will be having Black Friday sale. Personally I think that price is good and you won’t get it much cheaper. The only few ways to make it cheaper is - fly from Dublin, definitely more options; fly to New York and search for cheaper flights from NY to Miami, bearing in mind - that internal flights are not as cheap in US as in Europe.

Prices more likely to go up but who knows-demand will determine prices.Any cheaper to fly from a UK airport or say Amsterdam? I don't know the departure airlines from Shannon.

Based on the costs I have received to go home, flights are going one way… up!Aer Lingus recently when I was pricing saw flights from the states to Ireland double when I was checking. Usually 250-299 each way saw 540-599 each way.

business class was crazily priced.. finally managed to book business home for something near normal..

End of March-April is high season in Miami area as well, with all the April vacations going on. I honestly can not see you getting it for any cheaper but would wait until this Friday. And prices will absolutely not drop after Christmas/NY. I like using Hopper app as you just put in your destination and dates and it will tell you, based on previous years data, when you should buy tickets. Worked really well for us few times.

That's a very good price and Aer Lingus have a direct flight from DUB to MIA.

There really isn't an air fare fairy but rule of thumb is book at a price you're happy with and don't be tempted to keep checking once you've purchased.

Thanks, I have downloaded the Hopper app. It is predicted that up until Feb 2023, the prices will fluctuate and I may save 40 euros.

I will keep an eye on the Black Friday sale.

Tempted to go Business Class (once in life) but its costing 2000 each and we are family :)

Do you see any black Friday sales?

Aer Lingus upped the routine prices and now showing €100 off. But essentially its the same price as yesterday.

You are funny :))) do you think I am just sitting here checking flights from Shannon to Miami non stop :))) Regarding your business class ambition - the only way I can see it working out is buying miles/points from someone else, who has too many and doesn’t care. My personal prediction - price won’t fall below €500. Main reason - we struggled to find Boston to Miami flights for us for $300 or less this June. Keep us updated 👍

    Dub-Mia direct 17-24 March €326

Thanks so much. That's a fantastic find!!!

Shannon is not mandatory as long as I find a better deal from Dublin.

There is a family event, and I have to be there in the last week of March. 10 days if possible.

Could I ask you how do you search for Direct flights? Are there any specific days for Direct Dublin to Miami? Whenever I searched for a direct flight, I got a notification that there was no direct flight.

Also, when I click on the link it says Baggage not included and price goes up with 20kg checked in bags.

Honestly - Why concern yourself with 30 or 40 Euro saving on a flight when everything in Miami will cost a bomb...Unless you are a freeloader. Eating out / Drinks /Shopping / Travel etc are off the scale out there at the moment and especially so with strong dollar.

Try Google flights but only buy from the Airline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,915 ✭✭✭masterboy123

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried Google flights and Google Matrix. I will continue to keep a close eye.

Forget about itamatrix unless you're in the industry, there are easier sites to manage.

Business class if flying back overnight is great, probably wouldn’t bother with it if it’s an early morning or daytime flight

I'm the opposite. I suffer more going west (8.45h) but coming back was only 7.5hrs. Another thing to bear in mind is the aircraft if flying business. EI have been using the non refurbed ex Qatar planes on the Miami route. Although aircraft can and do change, I'd prefer to fork out for a better aircraft.

    Update:

Got the tickets for €510 per person from Shannon via London.

Found a black Friday deal on car rental. So got a premium SUV.

Found a a good enough AirBnB.

    Total = €4000 🇺🇸🎉

Well done on booking everything! Who are you flying with from London? Personally - clearing US immigration in Ireland - is priceless, you come out on the other side in a breeze. Be careful with car rental as well, depending if you booked on US or EU site - insurance arrangements might be different. Make sure you know what is included for sure before you get to the counter. Most likely everything is fine just good to know before you go. Have fun in Miami!

I am flying with American Airlines from Shannon. There is Pre-Clearance in Shannon. Will I need clearance again on arrival in Miami as we are flying through London?

I booked car the through autoeurope.eu and booked with them before also, no issues and comprehensive insurance included.

There is pre-clearance in Shannon but pre-clearance is only for direct flights. Your flight to London will be like any flight there and connect to your Miami flight. You will have to do immigration and customs in Miami.

Also make sure you have your ESTAs done

Thanks for clarifying this. I didn't realise it, but at least got good priced tickets. Will keep extra hour for custom checks at Miami.

    Yes, we will get ESTA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,839 ✭✭✭endofrainbow

Immigration will be the delay, not Customs which is generally a walk-through. Ensure you dispose of all fruit or meat products on arrival.

What about tayto crisps and milk for kids?

Thanks for the heads up. Will throw away the oranges and apples.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭SweetSand

No problem with tayto crisps, you can buy multi packs in Shannon airport duty free. Milk - you mean whatever you can bring through security - that won’t be that much and no problem or Formula in the suitcase - no problem either.

I really hope everything goes smoothly for you on your trip. Don’t hold your breath re AA airlines - very average. The only way I would fly to US from Ireland via London (very crowded airports, massive lines, extremely expensive food/drink) - if I was upgraded to higher than economy on the likes of Virgin Atlantic.

    Hi All,

Just wondering if it's best to get a local sim card in Miami to use Internet on the phone?

Or any Irish network provider giving good deals for 4g/5g Internet deals in USA?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,839 ✭✭✭endofrainbow

Most places have free WiFi. I assume your hotel does ?

I got a T Mobile sim from Amazon UK. Seller was called simcorner. It worked perfectly when I was in the US recently.

If you have a phone that can use an esim, get airolo app and get your esim through that. Saves me a fortune anywhere outside the EU

Thanks. Yes, my phone does have esim feature.

Do you get high speed net?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,179 ✭✭✭✭Caranica

It depends on the country and network. For the US the Change esim gives you 5g data on T-Mobile and Verizon

    Hi All,

Just wondering if someone has experience of travelling from London to Miami?

We are travelling from Shannon to London and then to Miami. In this case, do we have to check in checked luggage (20kg) again in London and go through the security in London?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,839 ✭✭✭endofrainbow

If all on one ticket, your bags will be tagged through to MIA, if separate tickets, you will have to recheck in London. On the assumption it's London Heathrow you're referring to, having to re clear security will depend on which terminals you arrive and depart, if all one on ticket, you should be able to stay airside.
