I would recommend San Sebastián marathon as an alternative. It was on last Sunday, weather was 10 degrees starting off and got to about 17 degrees towards the end but humidity was low.

The course is almost completely flat, apart from a couple of short inclines that you wouldn’t notice until the end. 2 laps of city with lots of crowds on route.

Only negatives were no km markings ( had a watch so almost doesn’t matter).

the first lap included people doing the half so it was pretty packed with some of the streets been small.

Having done Dublin I would recommend this ahead of it. There are no walkers etc starting in the wrong wave and getting in the way either. Runners all seemed to be in correct wave as there wasn’t much bumping over first few kms like many other marathons

Been nearly 10 years since Dublin so I’m a little out of touch with the lottery system, realise there’s been a few strange years but are there any chances that any places get offered through the next few months for DCM 2023?

Yes. Very high chances of additional places being offered at some point due to refunds and them finding an extra couple of thousand places down the back of the sofa which they forgot to put in the lottery.

Maybe December is out of scope for the OP but Valencia is a brilliant organised event and the course is one of the flattest you'll find.

Conditions in 2022 were absolutely perfect.
