Generally wondering what the criteria is for who gets cancelled. You look at the like's of the lads from little britain. I've nothing against them but they have done stuff that if others do it they get in trouble. Ant and Dec another example. Ant drink drive's crash's car into someone go's into rehab and is all good to go. Carragher spit's at someone at he's still there. Rodney Marsh has a joke about the toon army (tsunami) and he's out the door. Avid Merion done alot of stuff that was controversial. I love bo selecta but people are getting cancelled for way less of what they done in the past.

I hate this cancel culture but it seems to be very selective who is cancelled and who seems to be able to get away with it. I would not cancel anybody or nearly nobody unless it really is offending stuff. Comedy is dying due to cancel culture as people just scared to be offensive. But always fine it interesting who gets the boot and who is allowed to continue barely unscathed.

Always struck me,as people who continuely push the boat out being a dick to others,

eventually end up with enough rope to hang emselves, and little in way of folk to support em.....case in point being Ellen degeneres

People skip bouyed on by internet likes, skip basic human interactions to keep online dopamine hits and tide geos out on em......famously Donald trump of all people was known to be very personable to ordinary workers (gardeners/guides etc)at white house and henceforth was never fully cancelled

The Karma Police decides who gets cancelled or not.

What happens when someone's career gets fully destroyed by "allegations" and they turn out to be either exaggerated or totally made up. Is there no consequence for the reporters or editors that pushed the story.

For example Kevin Spacey was at the peak of his career in House of Cards and it was cancelled on some fairly exaggerated claims. I still can't get House of Cards or the Usual Suspects on Netflix's or Disney. However it is suggested by Heidi Fleiss that some people in Hollywood are untouchable. I believe they gave up some sacrificial lambs to protect the more "valuable " members of the herd.

The people who scream loudest about their outrage dictate who gets cancelled. There is nothing democratic about it. There is no one who weighs the facts and makes a judgement. There are no criteria for the level of outrage. It is simply those who make the most noise.

Billy Connolly simply wouldn’t make it in todays world… be cancelled dot com

he’d be cancelled faster then the speed of light in fact.

his jokes target or include different demographics of people, rips the piss completely… terrible.

I did not know that about Donald Trump being very personable, but your reasoning makes total sense in that people being dicks usually isolate themselves and have been a dick too many times that they have run out of road.

A very recent example of what you are saying is James Corden being a dick in Restaurants to the waiting staff.

There seemed to be almost an army of people with bad James Corden personal experiences, that once the gates opened, there was a flood.

Interesting topic for discussion from the OP, like how for example Ant was thrown a lifeline which could be down to the fact that he is flawed like the rest of us but in general an ok guy, so there is room a comeback but with someone like Corden who has an Ego like Everest, there is no forgiveness.

I was suprised to read it about him tbh,but while not huge fan of him,or his rethoric

I can say,I was happy to read he is seemingly that way,in the most businesses he ran,an utter dog to management, while being reasonably sound/personable to the staff on the ground......

especially in America, where a large amount of people sneer at poor/lower paid (hate the feeling that attitude is sneaking in here too and dispise the phrase trailer-trash),

always felt that's why his base held so tight and didn't wash away easily as would for others

Ant McPartlin developed an addiction to painkillers, and subsequently alcohol, after surgery. His marriage also broke down.

I don't think there was ever any negative stories about him or Dec before that. They both seem genuinely sound, openly acknowledge their working class background, don't exclusively date celebs and models or act like knobs.

I think that's why Ant wasn't vilified, people had sympathy for him and realised it was out of character.

That's mad about Cardi B. A real role model to young girls everywhere.

Aot of it is down to how you present yourself vs what you are really like.

Donald Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and made fun of a disabled journalist. It appealed to his base so he was grand. If Joe Biden did the same he would indeed be "cancelled", because his base would abandon him and his opponents would revel in his demise - game over for joe
