Section 5 Application on old building

Would anyone be able to advise here.

I haveapplied for a few new sheds on an existing farm for a farmer and the planners have come back asking for evidence of planning permission for the existing sheds. We've applied for retention for one of the sheds built around 8 years ago but there was a shed that was built mid-90s that he thought had permission but a search by the planning department turned up no such permission.

This mid-90s shed would be small enough to qualify for an exemption in compliance with Class 6 of Part 3 of Schedule 2 when originally constructed. My question is could we still submit a Section 5 Application on this older shed, despite it no longer falling under the threshold of the exemption in terms of aggregate floor area within the farmyard due to the subsequent construction of the newer sheds?
