I'm about to leave a negative review

    The reason I'm asking is, firstly, I'm wondering will I use my real account or a my spare google account? Secondly, should I mention the employee's name. I would like to do this because the business is alright really, it's just that employee who's the problem. I would like other review readers to see that person's name, and for their colleagues to see it.

    I've always been sceptical as to why there only seems to be good reviews on google, so I don't want this review to be deleted. What I plan on saying in the review is actually mild in comparison to what actually happened. I will be polite about it, without going into too much detail, but it needs to be said.

    If it’s just an employee who is the problem talk to the company… if you get no satisfaction there then I’d say drop a one star review..I’d probably not go mentioning the employee by name, maybe initials.

    I agree with Strumms, don’t name the employee on a public forum. Also would contact the company first, it may be out of character for the employee or they need to take some action like retraining.

    Relate the facts and say why you were annoyed.

    @Electric Gypsy I would be careful about what type of review you give if you are deciding to persecute an employee who may not have been to your preference or liking. It can be slanderous and could get you into bother.

    You will always find a negative review if you look closely enough. If you want to give a negative review just give a high rating and type something moronic like

    " oh my god this has to be the best place to whatever whatever whatever whatever" throw in a few smiley excited faces that can jump around and make noises on next gen software, in bright yellow, that seems to be the global colour of choice for blowing wind up someone's arse online.

    Once that is done you can commence your verbal annihilation of that poor unfortunate nobody, with whom you feel deserves an online ridicule by a complete stranger, with whom have had the misfortune of having to deal with in the course of their working life. I find it disappointing that you are more concerned about getting negative feedback from an international global conglomerate, as opposed to relishing the opportunity to possibly ruin someone's day.

    Try harder, getting identified as a cyber space nuisance has to be one of the saddest things I could imagine, but not as sad as actually aspiring to be one, now that is really.....really phucking sad?

    Well I've found out who the manager there is. I'd probably have to ring (mobile number) and then either get him to ring back, or ring them back when he's on. I hate the anticipation in that sort of thing.

    Thing is, it was Wednesday it happened, so I'd probably get the "why didn't you say anything about it then?" question. And I should have done something about it then, but I was completely taken aback by it at the time. I am embarrassed that I didn't handle it better, so that also makes it easy not to go ringing.

    you can’t review anonymously, you need to use your google account as far as I know

    so not using your real name I don’t believe is an option.

    Hang on, you do realise that there are plenty of fake name google accounts! I mean sure, people will get to click on the name of the account and see where else that person left reviews... and may form their own opinion as to whether it's fake or not, but you can still post it.

    I would never ever name a person in a negative review. But if I was that bothered I would contact the business directly.

    You can either stand over your review or you can't. If you can, then do so under your real name. If you can't, then don't post a review. People place too much importance, in their own minds, on their reviews. Most people reading reviews will dismiss the extreme ones or any from one-time accounts. Talking to the company is a more reliable way to go. What do you want to achieve from the review?

    The OP's post is the problem with the whole review system. They are worried about posting a negative review, there's the problem.

    Just get on with it and post whatever you think, there are far to many nice polite reviews that do nothing to inform other potential customers.

    Sort it out with the company by all means but you can still leave a negative review. If yours is the only negative on that subject who cares its a one off and the company have sorted it out but if its yet another negative review with the same problem then potential customers can see that they might have the same issues.

    I would never post a negative review on a place if i didn't complain to someone at the time about whatever it was. If you looked for a supervisor/manager at the time and none was available then maybe but otherwise i would make my complaint on the night

    You could still post the negative review afterwards and say you spoke to Manager X and they addressed (or didnt!) the situation and resolved it but the incident in particular may put you off returning to the establishment - you could then explain what happened.

    Oh that’s interesting and certainly explains a lot.


    As to the OP. Raise it with the company/ person in charge first. Only use the negative review as a pressure point only when they don’t respond. There is no need to to nuclear when you haven’t tried the usual routes first.

    I leave honest and generally positive reviews, and I use reviews to help inform when I visit an establishment but I have had two recent experiences where I posted genuinely negative reviews on two different platforms which were then removed as the owners challenged them.

    The question I now have is whether to trust any reviews. If the negative are pushed off the platform then it is completely unreliable.

    if you post an anon review you’re soft.

    if you blast an employee by name you’re just horrible.

    If you do both at the same time your behaviour is indescribable.

    Many are fake and the real ones are mostly worthless. Whats the point of someone out of box experience? I want to know if the item is still good after 6 months of use. Finding real useful reviews is getting harder.

    Recently had made a complaint to the NAS&I, the UK premium bond people. Didn't name anyone but the calls I'd made were obviously listened too as the operator who did her best and helped more than anyone got named because she made a mistake. Typical management that wasn't what I was complaining about.

    My reviews are typically for hotels, restaurants etc. I try to find the good in most things.

    For product reviews, I rely on the professionals. Which! Is excellent for appliances.

    Why is there anything wrong with a genuine anonymous / false name review ? Not like it’s going to help anyone if you include your name..

    id agree about mentioning staff names though, not really cool.

    Not anonymous. My gmail account. And not an employer but rather a business I spent money on.

    Actually on reflection I am far too transparent and looked at all the data I give google for free which they profit on. I was conscious of this but accepted the quid pro quo that I gained through honest reviews. No more.

    Maybe just be a man and lift the phone to another man and have an actual conversation about real stuff. You might get some satisfaction that way.

    Leave a fair review - "This is a good business, good value but some of the staff can be rude etc..."

    I always find 2 or 3 star reviews far more informative

    IIRC stuff like google review and others. You have access as a business to hide posts nothing internal You cant effect the star rating but you can control what is seen. OFC under the guise of self moderation for safety as you may not be able contact google to have stuff taken down asap.
