Years ago these two lads (back in the landline telephone days) used to drive around trying to sign people up to a different landline provider with varying levels of success. One of them, a short affable lad from Kerry would start chatting to the customer

"Don't you be shpendin' your money" he would say

"I've a holiday home down in Ballybunion shur you can stay in it for a week when I'm not there"

"Don't you be shpending money on your holidays, sit into your motor-car and take a sphin down to Ballybunion"

People used to really believe it, this was when holidays in Ireland weren't really fashionable and there was no AirBNB. They would sign up with the new phone provider. He had a separate phone for the job, if they somehow managed to get through to him the holiday home would be full or there would be something else wrong. He did not in fact have a holiday home at all but the people he signed up would be locked into a contract with new phone provider.

A few years ago I hoped this lad would become Taoiseach because he promised to be the Taoiseach for the people who get up early in the morning.

Under his stewardship I was prevented from working for a combined six odd months 2020- 22 and have watched house prices go up by near on 50% since the day he made those remarks.

And don't start me on welfare spending for ingrates.....

Putin is a dictator. Putin should face justice at the Hague. All good Russians should work to depose Putin. Russias war in Ukraine is illegal and morally wrong.
