Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Data Recovery from a Fried MacBook Pro

    Hello all. Out of the blue my two year old 2019 Intel i7 MacBook Pro decided to die in the middle of the night. No charge, nothing, multiple chargers tried- nothing.

    Is it safe to assume that that's 2 years work down the drain, or does any kind soul have recommendations for a data recovery specialist ? As far as I'm aware the SSD is soldered onto the motherboard/logicboard so it's not a simple matter of plugging it into a different MacBook.

    (Also yes, I'm an eegit for not backing up properly over the 2 years)

    You need to bring it to Select or another Apple specialist to diagnose the issue. Of course there is every likelihood that they will wipe the computer during the repair.

    Shame. €80 would have gotten you a spare hard drive to carry out Time Machine backups.

    There are specialist places that will attempt to fix the motherboard. But you would lose any warranty if you have any.

    Depends on the value you put on the data. How much you are willing to spend on it.
