Attic Conversion Insulation and Window Blackout

    Hi,

Ahead of getting the attic converted I'm wondering is there any way to prepare regarding insulation to ensure the room doesn't become unbearably warm/retain too much heat during the summer months?

Also, as the blackout blinds are attached to the windows and don't cover them when open like conventional roller blinds in the rest of the house, does anyone have advice on how to block out the light coming in when the window is open?

    They are top hung windows.
