Trickle vents and ventilation performance

    Hi All,

I live in a med-size apartment build ca. 2004 and all windows have trickle vents that I can close (no wall vents).

Now I've been always insisting on having them open for ventilation and humidity control, but over the year of having CO2 and humidity monitor my conclusion is that they don't really make a difference: on a still day from what I can tell ventilation is next to zero: and virtually the same as with them closed (co2 levels can go up to 1500 ppm), and letting more noise inside than fresh air... The situation changes when it's windy out, but in that case I'm more likely to close them anyway, as the blowing wind makes uncomfortable drafts and noise.

SO I don't really understand the point... or am I missing something here? Something that isn't measured?

    THanks for opinions on this.
