Connacht vs Munster 07/10/2022

So no team listings provided with this post. And the reason why is that you have two sets of fans that are less than enthused with the coaching structure associated with their provinces. I suspect this thread will end up as a bickering thread between disallusioned fans who are simply fed up with the direction (and more appropriately, lack of direction) our teams currently have. From a Connacht perspective our centre partnership looks suspect but then Munsters centre partnership don't look anything amazing either. So it's hard to even say how this game will play out. And will it save one coaching staff while commiting the other coaching staff to the gulags. And do either team wish their current coaching staff to be saved as an outcome of this game?

I think the majority of the Munster support think the coaching staff deserve some time, tbh.

Munster haven't come fully stacked. Munster have come with the only players they have available. Carbery's at 15 because there no-one else to play there. There's a full back on the wing. The pack looks strong, but there's an academy second row on the bench. The only 4 fit back rows are in the squad.

That's not an excuse, as I expect Munster to be strong in this game, but it is a fact. The emerging Ireland tour can't be over quick enough.

Friend is away at the end of this season so this is a bit of an odd situation.

Munster have had 3 games under the new setup, I don't think anyone is really wanting to oust them yet.

coombes will be a big difference, and jack carty can only do so much himself and will no doubted be rusty from his time off.

carbery has always been a better 15 than 10

Not to sound harsh but Munster are genuinely hopeless, thankfully they are able to win enough 50/50 moments to stay in games but that's it. Yes there are moments where it looks good but for all these moments you then get majority of rubbish throughout the match.

That's an absolutely insane penalty. Carty got straight out of the way, he had no effect at all on the ruck. Awful, awful call.

Munster lucky to be in front at half time. Connacht are bringing the physicality and beating us up in the scrum

Munster had a couple of big hits on Connacht but we need to see more of that

Murray is too slow as usual, Carberry's positioning for the first try was awful and then he missed the tackle. Plenty of other people messed up for that try but Carberry should have made that tackle

If Philips caught that Coombes pass, we would have probably scored a try off that

How to beat it.

Dont commit to rucks between 22 and halfway, so give away no penalties and let the backline run out of ideas which happens pretty quickly.

Butler frustrates me, too often gets turned over because he's goes to ground too easily, poor clearours in defence and gets pinged a good few times by the ref, he's just not an 8, how many times have we said over the years that connacht need a proper No.8, Naopu was our last decent one
