    Hi everyone,

I'm wondering can you convert a 3 door car to a van here in Ireland. And if so how would you go about putting it through nct/doe etc.

I know back in the 90s Toyota starlet vans were nct exempt but does this still stand for same type car such as a conversion of a toyota yaris 1 litre petrol to a van?

    Thanks a million.

YES you can . Its not cheap to do as you need to remove not only the seats and seatblests from the car , but their anchor points aswell . Then you need a structure WELDED in so you have a flat floor all the way to the back of the front seats . ALso it will require an engineers report . All needs to be sent off to register it as a van along with a coppy of both sides of the log book . WHen you have everything back then you basically call up a local CVRT centre and book a test . SO to answer your second question you will need to get a test on it either way .

In the early days of NCT there was no equivelent test for commercials .
