Serious North Korean vibes off it.. fake smiles, clapping and standing ovations when MM was giving himself a big pat on the back. You'd swear they were doing a half decent job instead of the farcical display by these charlatans.

This shower should be done for treason along with FG.

    You're watching it.

The reason why, only you will know

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,444 ✭✭✭✭Jim_Hodge

How do you know? You must be glued to it.

It's the same at every party conference in every country. The party faithful always put on a brave face. It's hardly earth shattering news.

If it isn't a story about how the roof collapsed in on them, I don't want to hear about their Ard Fheis.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,814 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Irish politics is a mess… we don’t have enough credible politicians as in individuals so every major party is a collective mess…. Literally no value for money to the public….weak leaders too worshipping at the temple of wokeness and petrified to offend these special interest groups who seem to be holding them to ransom.. out of touch with the lives, needs and concerns of everyday Irish people…. Purposely.

FG are worse though, what little you’d get from FF is one thing……FG.. no chance. their only desire to see our population rise is to drive down costs of wages for businesses..and improve their numbers in their voter base..

    You have four problems:

    • You are watching it…. Why heaven only knows
    • You are going to have to learn to live with it
    • You don’t know what treason is
    • You don’t know enough about politics in other countries to draw a realistic comparison

Apart from that you are doing fine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,437 ✭✭✭Sgt Hartman

An Ard Fheis is usually nothing more than a circle jerk session for the political party in question. I couldn't be bothered tuning in watching any of them.

You're making a lot of assumptions there Jim...

    • You are watching it…. Why heaven only knows. ---- Clearly not my choice and that's why is was shocked at how ridiculous it was. It was stomach turning
    • You are going to have to learn to live with it --- Why should we live with these charlatans ?
    • You don’t know what treason is ---- I don't???? I'm pretty sure i do. look it up maybe and you might learn something yourself
    • You don’t know enough about politics in other countries to draw a realistic comparison ---I don't???? how would you know?

You sounds like a bit of a know it all?

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,507 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

I'm not clear how it is not your choice.

How is this the part you and a few others are fixated on? I was in a elderly neighbours house and they had it on. Does that explain things enough for you?

Given that FG have turned their back on taxpayers and lost a lot of votes as a result... You would wonder is FF pushed for and got rid of the USC, could it win them back some support. Or is there such dislike for FFG now, that regardless of what they do, they are goosed and its too big a risk to take, abolishing USC for example, when it might not win them any more support. Very interesting times ahead...

It's too late for FF FG full stop.... The tide has turned.

The youth of the nation have been “hoodwinked” into think Sinn Fein have all the answers.

Their history forgotten, or ignored, casual sectarianism bred by the likes of Blind Boy Boat Club, the Irish Simpsons Fans Page on Facebook and comedian Darren Conway take attention away from the party’s dark, and disgraceful, past. And then there’s kind, old, “Uncle Gerry” posting memes on Twitter showing the softer side of SF.

I am aware that their online “presence” took a massive hit with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, swathes of bots silenced overnight but still they soldier on.

We are cursed with short memories in this country, the fact FF are still anywhere near the “corridors of power” is testament to that. Allowing SF in would be a far, far, more dangerous prospect.

    The tide is turning…

Did they invite you round to watch the Ard Fheis?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,852 ✭✭✭✭Zebra3

Who the hell is in FF? And why? Haven’t they destroyed the country enough times? MM even serving in the cabinet that broke the country!

I don’t know anyone who is in FF. Where do these people live and work?

It's their total lack of stopping the vulture funds/investment funds from buying up half the country and holding the whole housing issue to ransom. I think that's the main reason they've lost the people. The brown envelopes must be huge at this stage. They're choosing this to be the sword they die on....

Look at this from this mornings business post. Incredible on so many levels. something really F'd up here

I reckon they’ll have a significant role in the next government. Can get to making Ireland great again then without the shackles of fg

In fairness, FG/FF have equally bloody pasts, maybe even worse depending how far back you go. The history of this island hasn't been all rainbows and sunshine and that's something we'll have to accept. I've never voted SF in my life but I can't vote for FF/FG ever again as a young person who is trying to buy a house or consider heading off to OZ. We have no future here anymore and thats all down to Gov policy. It's disgusting really

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,188 ✭✭✭emo72

Yeah, when you have been so absolutely bad at running a country that SF look viable. That's how awful FFFG have been. That's on them.

They're even trying to bring back Bertie 🤣🤣🤣

Did Robert Troy get any profile at all at this Ard Fheis?

I see Norma Foley, the worst Education minister in the history of the state, was given a high profile role.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,016 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Did you have to actually look at it? Could you not have focused on the Sacred Heart picture beside the telly or something?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭cuttingtimber22

How is she the worst education Minister in the history of the State? By what metric?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,630 ✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Yes but as Michael D mentioned recently, at least we are 'a star performer for the speculative sector internationally'.

What job will Michael Martin get in the EU after this government ends?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Didn't see him actually but i saw Norma's outrageously staged fake smile when MM bellowed out with pride about the free books for primary school students . It was disgusting

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭cuttingtimber22

What is this talk about SF databases and monitoring Irish citizens?

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,507 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

Was this the first time you actually saw an Ard Fheis?

You do get the impression that they are more concerned about getting a pat on the back from the European big boys ,Investor funds and multinationals than they are about the Irish people.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,630 ✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

I love the arrogance of older folks towards the youth of Ireland. Tasteful. Maybe walk in their shoes for a while?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

The "North Korean vibes" remark has some validity. Non democratic Socialist regimes and other despots do these occasions to a tee. And nobody would dare come on the internet to criticise them at home. Even if the glorious leader inflicted nine hour lectures to them on the TV.

Western countries do a mild version, and I couldn't understand how the OP was so shocked by what they saw. It is the same for every party.
