How else is he meant to transport the childers around the place?

    Sounds like a fun evening

Will RTE have a primetime on this wreckless attack on Gardai in Cork?

You ram a police car in America, they shoot you.

This should be attempted murder of a Garda with with a sentence measured in decades

Should be banned from carrying any passangers for a few years and I hope that the children who were in this van thank the judge for saving them from further injury

    Any video?

Or banned for life and have a tag on for the foreseeable.

How much of a "ram" was this one? I mean the one in Cherry Orchard was more of a gentle nudge than a ram

A few years? They should be locked up for attempted murder and banned from driving for life.

It would be great to get through a couple of straight weeks in this country without children being killed or hurt or endangered by those who are supposed to love and protect them the most. Bad, bad times.

Case for rounding up these anti social types and interning them, for the safety of the rest of society. Scourge not just on the roads but dumping and littering without a thought of being caught, never mind prosecuted and convicted.

    Garda cars!

if he rammed police cars in Germany or Spain or any other modern European country he’d be firmly dealt with not to mention if he tried this wreckless carry on in America .

Law abiding people in Ireland are not been protected by the state.

Did the tagging thing ever catch on? I remember some auld shtick about it a few years ago. Sure twould be great stuff ..kina as good as having someone in prison. You'd know where they were all the time so they couldn't go robbing. ??

The armed support would have been justified to shoot him.

Obviously he was getting his life back on track, a good fader, etc etc.

Sadly children learn by what they live and so if this thug isnt dealt with firmly _which isnt happening_ the probability is that they will grow up to be somewhat the same. The courts should be far more severe with people like him.

Think the human rights crowd got onto it even though it's used everywhere.

  • Registered Users Posts: 791 ✭✭✭CreadanLady

Not really. They'd just bust them off and be at large again causing mayhem until the next time they are picked up by the Gardai, which could be months or years.

It just wouldn't work. Expensive waste of time.

Even if they did want to stay on the right side of the tagging thing, they'd just stay out of the actual burglary, but continue on with the wheeler dealering, moving stuff, selling stuff, frauds, every other shady deal going.

There isn't enough prison space to hold people to account. It is as simple as that. That is the reason there is the revolving door of prison.

The only long term prisoners here are:

    1. psychopathic murderers, serial killers & pedophiles who are at very high risk of compulsive re-offending (basically those with a screw loose and can't help themselves and are almost certain to re-offend seriously - Larry Murphy types);
    2. high profile dissident republicans;
    3. and Garda killers.

Everyone else is on the merry-go-round of remission and release on licence.

There won't be any such thing as a prison building programme. It just isn't on the table and won't be. It simply wouldn't wash with the electorate and would be political suicide for any government who even attempted it.

We can't even build one children's hospital in a reasonable timeframe or to a reasonable price point. The idea of more prisons isn't a runner for the long term foreseeable.

I don't care who he is, should be locked up ASAP and kept away from those kids, no bail

Surely Tusla will be looking after the safety of these kids

  • Registered Users Posts: 791 ✭✭✭CreadanLady

100%. And everyone would agree a childers hospital is necessary. And we couldn't agree for over 10 years on even WHERE to build the damn thing, and now everyone is saying it is the wrong place and will fairl, and it'll over run in costs by the billions.

With that, what bloody hope is there for adding a few thousand prison spaces. None. It is fantasy land stuff.

    Yes.

No it wouldn't have been justified - this is not the USA. It would have been excessive and the Garda or Gardai responsible for it would be finished.

Anyone who cared about the children in the van wouldn't go shooting bullets into it.

I'd be concerned about you owning a gun with your blaze attitude to shooting people.
