Ireland has sweeteners in soft drinks including sprite.

So was just wondering on the Polish version that I found in a Polish shop.

It's sprite, tastes like **** no matter where you buy it.

That's what I thought as well. But checked Google translate but there doesn't seem to be sweeteners in the Polish sprite. But there definitely is sweeteners in the Irish one here.

Being Polish, I hereby grant you permission to call my fellow countrymen just Polish. I've never met anyone offended by it. Sure, if you add f*cking before it or w*anker after then I see how it may be considered rude :D

No sweeteners, just sugar in the drink. Most drinks in Eastern European shops are full fat

I got offended by Irish teacher in my younger son's primary school years ago for calling me Polish, well to be fair to her, telling me she doesn't understand Polish language.

Always told to my son, if you don't understand anything at school, you ask the teacher and she/he will help you. So he followed father's advice.

At the parents teacher meeting she was giving out about my son constantly asking about what she said, a bit arrogant way i must say. Told her, yeah that's what I've told him to do, when he doesn't understand something at school and of course mentioned English is not his native language. And she says.. oh well I don't speak Polish to explain everything.. neither do I says me, I'm Czech..

That was me offended 😁 and the teacher of the only one Czech boy in the small national school here left red faced..

I do remember drinking Fanta if I recall in Egypt and not alone wast it quite different in colour, it tasted different. You'll find Paddy and the UK market likes it dosed with sugar

Fanta is different.

Coca Cola (tm) had a history of buying out the leading fizzy orange drink when moving to a new market and then rebrand it as Fanta while keeping the formula or something somewhat like it. Colours and flavours vary wildly.

He is Polish. Absolutely nothing grammatically or otherwise wrong with that. She is Irish.

He is 'a Polish'. Clearly that's not right. Would a native English speaker say that? Sounds like something a Slavic language speaker would say, where they get definite and indefinite articles mixed up ('Would you like the cup of tea?). He is a Pole.

Of course then there is 'Chinee' as a singular of Chinese.

I asked a polish girl at work about that before. She said that polak just meant a Polish man and that polka would be the female version of it.

It’s really only in America where it would have been used as a derogatory “term”, similar to paddy etc.

"Great bunch of lad" doesn't really work

Google Translate is good for translating single words or simple phrases, but to make it handy for shopping around in a country where the language is unfamiliar with phone in one hand, one would need a character recognition app for it to be convenient.
