    Decrease SW

Weed out those who don't deserve DA

    Increase minimum wage

Nationalise all childcare and let state pay salaries for staff but no charges for parents.

    Expand childcare provision hugely.

Stop paying Child's allowance as a cash payment. Should be credit system only spent on clothing, food, sundries. And only can be spent within the state.

Bigger grants for solar panels and batteries in private houses, farms to get huge solar panel scheme for buildings to feed the grid.

do you think this is clever? I don’t.

PBP are populist left party. They’re as communist as SF, which is not at all.

If you disagree with their policies, why not dissect them 1 by 1. I probably wouldn’t disagree with you most of the time. Why waste your time on lazy name calling?

The Socialist Workers Party or Socialist Workers Community or whatever they're calling themselves this week are Communists. PBP is just a front group for them.

Everyone knows this but some people help them try to keep up the pretence.

They aren’t. That’s a genuinely stupid thing to say. I’m quite happy to support this statement. But first, I’d like you to support your post with some evidence that they’re communists. Can you do that?

Shower a absolute chancers. In a nutshell, they’re anti anyone doing well for themselves. They also know they’ll actually never have to lead, govern, make decisions and be responsible.

Wikipedia classifies both them and their front organisation as Trotskyism. If you want to argue that Trotsky wasn't a communist go right ahead.

Effectively double the current corporation tax rate is their idea. The reason this island is so wealthy is because of that corporation tax that is the envy of every other state in Europe, we would operate a deficit every year without it. They'll get plenty of votes for 350 p/w welfare then as half the country will be unemployed and on it.

Their immigration proposals determine that I won’t be giving them a vote or taking any other proposals of theirs in any way seriously..

“Europe should open its borders. With 500 million people, Europe can easily cope with two million refugees. Europe should open its borders and Ireland has a duty to welcome its share of refugees from war, oppression, persecution and other inhuman conditions. Western imperialism bears a heavy responsibility for the creation of these conditions.”

right, western imperialists.. the EU 🤣

No you're quite right, Sinn Féin are Marxist, whereas traditional Soviet era Communism was Leninism.

And so are SPBP or CBBC, or whatever they're calling themselves this week.

And as the great Ferris Bueller would say, "-Ism's in my opinion, are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself"

    Yep.

Amazing how in 2022 folks still banging on about imperialism, and using it to explain “some stuff,” which, btw has the world globally advanced and connected and prosperous.

It’s a natural human condition, and if the Irish had the means and power, we too would have been imperialists..

Why have a debate when you can lazily generalise eh?

There is a huge amount to disagree with from PBP. They actually publish polices and a mock budget. Go after that. Let’s debate it.

It actually doesn’t matter a damn what “ism” they are to me. They are either right or wrong. Let’s debate their policies instead of ad hominem attacks and name calling.

The problem with electricity and Gas is that its not possible to have competition in either sector, nationalising is an excellent idea because the consumer is being rode sideways by companies price gouging at the moment.

Telecoms is different because people actually have options of who provides then with the infrastructure but nobody has an option for electricity or gas.

The other problem is that any proposal this mental shower comes up with looks daft even if like this one it has merit.

Have you now accepted that they are communists?

How much income tax do you chip in annually? How much extra would be "fair"?

A populist party chasing votes of the Lumpenproletariat. Trotsky would be disgusted with them.

    🙈🙉🙊

    No, absolutely not.

Do you think this is clever? Avoiding a debate of substance by lazy name calling?

Is this a Waterford Whispers News story. Sounds like it.

The dumbest budget proposal I've ever read.

Anything with Richard Boyd Barrett involved is bound to be car crash material.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

So wikipedia have got it wrong, PBP and their parent body are not Internationalist Trotskyites?

It's not name calling to describe this group as communists when they actually are communists

So what about their proposals then. What do you think of them? What would you do instead.

I don’t accept they are communists, but as I said, that’s irrelevant. We can discuss their proposals without agreeing on that

Ricky BB held a few protests around my area to keep the 59 bus route open. A curious bus route which dublin bus said nobody uses....except for a few pensioners in the council estate it commences from (to killiney hill). It was running at a massive loss.

PBP kept it going, buses being another human right, a bus all the neighbourhood kids call the ghost bus cos there's nobody on it. Great result there, taking a resource from where it could actually be used. A typical communist central planning failure, but sure it doesn't matter, the rich will pay.

Then their idiot councillors pulled down some Israeli flags at a kids international sports event in dun laoghaire harbour. Another great result for the battle against imperialism.

    Clowns of the highest order.

Their proposals €25 billion in new tax measures 😂

Paul Murphy said that everyone in the country would be “lifted out of poverty” by across the board welfare increases.

Ah yes history has shown thats exactly how it works Paul lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,181 ✭✭✭Good loser

So, he figures, everyone in the country should pay to get everyone in the country 'lifted out of poverty'. Smart?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,181 ✭✭✭Good loser

A party's proposals are only worth considering if they reach a certain basic threshold of seriousness - PBP don't come close to that mark for me. (Life is short)

  • Registered Users Posts: 309 ✭✭O'Neill

PBP chances of being anywhere near in power are obviously low but I've got a lot of time for some of the people like Eamonn McCann, Fiona Ferguson and Gerry Caroll.

i beg to differ, the creation of wealth, particularly via continual asset price inflation such as property prices etc, is still extremely well managed, and still remains concentrated, and is becoming ever more concentrated, public polices are still very much in favor of such outcomes, and so to are institutional behaviors, so all very well managed....
