UV blinds for South facing extension

Our extension project is directly south facing, and includes a good bit of glazing - 5m wide in various sections and a sliding door, and 2.2m high. We have heard about UV blinds to protect indoor floors and furnishings from discoloration. Does anyone have experience with these? Do they also block people's view looking in? The ones I've seen are electronically controlled, for example.

For a project like this, what should we be looking for? Should we be looking at blackout blinds as well as or instead of UV? Which is better? And what about their properties in terms of keeping the room cool in high summer? Given the summer we just had, this could be an issue (we have 2 opening Velux rooflights spec'd, but maybe we need more than that).

Any and all advice is very welcome.
