Hi, has anyone dealt with county councils in agreeing their salary. It states the starting salary will be at the bottom of the scale, is this a fixed point or can you haggle

    Thanks

Some will some won't. I know cork county council are willing to start you on a few points higher if you have a lot of experience over and above the minimum.

On the other hand Cork City Council don't deal and are very much take it or leave it.

    No harm asking.

Fixed at the bottom point of the scale for the retrospective job. There is no leeway and no means for coming to an agreement unless you are transferring from another PS role.

We have had 2 years of people backing out of jobs once they realise they cannot agree a different start point based on experience/qualifications etc
