Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An elderly family member is looking to get Holy Water? They used get it outside the church but since Covid it seems to have all stopped. Where would you guys recommend looking for them now?

Where are you? Are you saying the holy water taps on some churches are not working? You could try googling your area and asking which churches have taps. The friaries seem to be more likely to have it available, since they do Mass cards etc, are there any near where you live?

they're in Dublin, they say there used to be a barrel with a tap outside the church where they would re-fil the bottles. I don't see many barrels outside churches anymore, i could be wrong?

It's back in the porch of churches, There should be a container of some sort with a tap to fill a bottle from.

You could also call to any parochial house.

There is a font outside some churches usually filled with "holy" water, topped up with rain water, but whats the difference. If you believe its holy water then holy water it is, to you.

Approach a Priest after mass and usually they would be glad to assist.

Yeah, just have a bottle of water & ask a priest to bless it.

Alternatively, since you also have the capacity to bless, & if you know how, you could also bless the water yourself.

If you're in Dublin you could visit St theresa's Church on clarendon Street. On the altar there's a large Stone bowl which is filled with holy water. There's always a jug beside this bowl for anyone who wants to fill their own bottle.

Just ask a priest at any church.

I remember when we were kids, drinking holy water from some place behind the church.

We know it was a really bad thing to do. (A) it was probably manky and (B) we were probably sinning or something.

Imagine these were the only worries on your mind !

Funny, I'd forgotten completely about that until I came to this thread. 😀

The mind is an amazing thing.

either at the back of the church or just outside there will be a reservoir/container you can fill bottles at. Often there will even be bottles ready to fill..

Ask at church, last Easter here they just blessed bottled water due COVID 'safety' presume it not left out too obvious now or people would just think it drinking water.

No longer holy water in fonts to bless yourself as people dipping finger in a COVID risk

Water in the fonts is back. There's always a container near the fonts for filling Holy Water. It's certainly not difficult to get.
