Do you breath through both nostrils equally?

I never have equal suction through both nostrils at the same time.

One always feels constricted compared to the other.

Ive had this issue as long as I can remember.

This is how I free up a blocked nostril. You can feel the blockage transfer to the side closest to the pillow.

I also never have equal flow through both nostrils, one side is always slightly restricted but sides change multiple times throughout the day.

You just need to "train" the nostril that's not working properly, sorta like what they did with kids years ago who had a lazy eye making them wear a patch over their good eye to get the bad eye working properly.

What you need to do is jam a crayon as far as possible up your good nostril and then wrap a decent piece of duct tape around your head sealing your mouth shut. This will force your bad nostril to work properly.

No-one breathes through both nostrils equally. Leaving aside temporary effects due to things like mechanical factors or illnesses, there is a natural nasal cycle in which the autonomic nervous system closes one side of the nasal cavity and opens the other and then swaps sides every couple of hours. On average, people will breath on each side for 4 or 5 cycles a day of around 2.5 hours each, but that can vary.

I'm a leftie and normally breathe through my left nostril clearly, but that led to me having to have surgery several time on my right sinus cavity, which led to me thinking you need to chew cake on your left side

Depends on the day. On Sundays I try to keep it equal but Monday, Wednesday and Friday I prioritise the right nostril and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday I prioritise the left nostril. Very important to get it right.

Imbalance can be caused by broken nose or foetal position of arm pressed against nose.

We alternate during the day; about every 20 minutes one side takes precedence. It's called the nasal cycle.

In my case i got a dropped sinus for my smoking sins which blocked my left nostoril compleatley a lot of the time for years but i was put on anti inflamatory tablets Cataflam 5o mg for a knee issue and my nose is grand now . mybe talk to your GP about letting you try Cataflam for 6 months as i know that if my nose problem returns i will try the Cataflam again. google neti pot / nose buddy flush but it wont help if your nose is compleatley blocked. Best of luck staying of the fags as its the best preseny you can ever give yourself
