    Hi,

I have two little kids & I've been on the social housing list for 10 yrs.

If you have a council house, how long were you waiting & what can I do to spend it up??

Getting depressed over this. I just want a home. I'm working full time.

I'm assuming your a single parent. My friends sister got in contact with her local TD and this speeded things up for her (single parent with 2 kids)

I agree it’s very disheartening, best of luck to you.

I received the keys for my council house this week. I totally understand how you feel. I had all but given up hope of getting a home. My husband and I have 4 kids, we have been on the list just over 13 years.

I haven't got any miracle as to how to speed the process up, but I regularly spoke to a local TD, I put myself on several lists and I applied for choice based lettings (only ones I would be willing to live in). Whenever I applied for a home I also rang the office and spoke to a housing manager to check my chances, and ask the TD to advocate for me. Aside from that it is a long and disheartening process.

Sending your family lots of love xxxx

Do you mind me asking, how long was it between expressing your interest with a bid and then finding out that you were successful and then actually getting the keys? Thanks
