Concrete on sloped driveway

Will be getting a sloped driveway concreted. I asked the contractor what could be done to mitigate against ice. It's a steep slope that causes problems every year getting out. He was unsure, said maybe some sort of rough finish. He said he would look about it.

The council use some sort of additional surfacing at the bottom of hilly junctions around the town. What is that, and would it work?

As you've hinted at, the way I'd approach this problem is to engage (or at least investigate the work of) a contractor that does mainly commercial and local authority projects, where the risk of compo claims is a strong incentive to get it right.

Looking at doing the same on a sloped driveway. Any idea of costs? Cheers
