Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

From Nursing home to UK & back?

    My (95 y/o) MIL has been in hospital for 5 wks, consultant says although she's not too bad her (consultants') recommendation is she needs 24/7 nursing home care.

    MIL said she didn't want to go back home & was ready to go into a NH where she wouldn't have to worry about everything.

    MIL was granted 10 wks transitional care in a local NH pending the Fair Deal scheme being granted.

    She was in the home less than 3 hours, said she wasn't staying there & demanded to be taken out immediately. We explained that she has to give it a chance & that she cannot come home as there's nobody to care for her at night which is when she needs the most help.

    Now she wants to go to stay with her daughter in UK for possibly 6 mths (not sure exactly how long at this stage as they get on each other's nerves after 6-7 wks).

    So my question is: if she goes to the UK for a period of time, can she then return to Ireland & what will happen as regards her going back into a nursing home ?
