CASE Back End Oil JX1100U

Need to change the back end oil and filter in my JX1100U.

Can someone confirm if 10w 30 is the correct oil please as a lad was telling me there is some other specific Case oil for the back end that is very expensive but 10w 30 is the same thing.

Not even remotely the same. 10w 30 are temperature numbers used for engine lubrication oil. The Oil in the back end of a case is for the Transmission and pneumatics. Its a totally different oil, expensive as its dual purpose specialised oil.

The correct Oil is Case Hytran and yes it's expensive. I know there are a few alternatives but they are not readily available and cost enough too.

You could chance using a standard thin Hydraulic Oil like a No. 32 and even a No 46 but remember it's not a transmission oil they are Hydraulic oils which are designed for compression not lubrication

UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, DO NOT PUT 32 OR 46 HYDRAULIC OIL INTO THE BACK END OF ANY TRACTOR WITH WET BRAKES.

It doesn't have any anti squak additives to prevent brakes screeching along with other much poorer lubricating properties compared to proper Transmission fluid.

@Sami23 Your best bet is to ring a Case or New Holland dealer and enquire there. You wouldn't be far off with 10W30 or 10W40 but best to put in what the garage recommends.

I've been using universal 10w 30 for the back end, without issue, so far anyway..

15w 40 for engine

Go to your nearest Case or New Holland dealer and get whatever they give you for it. It might be a little dearer than some of what's available, but it will be a lot cheaper than repairing your tractor if something goes wrong because of using the wrong oil.

10w 30 is the correct back end oil for many tractors, and certainly correct for a Fiat/New Holland derived Case like a JX.

TL90 here which is the new Holland version of the JXU’s and it’s always 10w30 that’s used, whether it’s myself or Garahy’s that service it.

As White Clover said don’t ever use hydraulic oil in the back end of a tractor.

UTTO or BF16 oil will do if you don’t want genuine

The anti sqwak additive for the brakes can be got separately in 1L drums, UTTO may not have enough of it or any of it. But if in doubt go with what Garahy's recommend. The only thing we use H32 in is the vac tank pump. Is the gearbox separate from the back end in the Case?

Hydraulic 32 oil is usually used for hyd scrapers as it works well at low winter temps.

So the official line from the dealers is that Nexplore is the recommended oil but 10w30 utto will do the same job also.
