Where is the outrage over this from politicians over this, these scum should be locked and throw away the key. If this happened in the nationalist community, MM would have a press conference organised already with commentary from the impartial RTE and their ilk. Serious questions have to be asked on Unionists politicians and the PSNI such as why has these scum never decommissioned, why are they allowed exist and why are not in jail

I haven't seen anyone defend the UDA, or anyone who thinks the UDA are decent people.

It's a fairly small story, threats supposed to be made and payments made. All the info seems to be coming from one "loyalist source".

Normal, decent people still outnumber violent scumbags by a very large margin. This is something people never realise. If every face and name of every scumbag engaging in violent crime or threatening behavior was immediately made public with their exact details, they would scurry away like the rats they are.

Because that's all they are. Rats that rely on the cover of darkness and anonymity so they can carry out their crimes. If humanity was wired differently and these scrotes immediately had a massive light shone on them, there wouldn't be a problem.

If only there was a way for people to band together and tell these guys "we are millions. We know who you are. We will make any wrong move by you public and you won't be able to fart sideways without consequences".

But because the law is there to protect criminals and punish decent people that want to fight back, it is possible for these rats to keep scurrying under the floorboards. It always annoys me when they have their faces blurred or be allowed to hide them. They should have their face on the biggest screen with their names and VERY large letters. Fcuk criminals. Do they care about their victims? If you are a violent scumbag, you should practically have to advertise that fact.

Overuse of 'arson' there. They lit a bonfire ahead of schedule. Its not that they set a car or house on fire. The victims are the scrotes who wanted it lit at a later date. My heart bleeds.

Its made the news because its outrageous.

I would not condone breaking any teenagers arm for lighting a bonfire. While Halloween ones can be dangerous, i don't believe they are so emotionally attached to our 'culture'.

It is an interesting point. The pallets were there to be burned, they were not owned by an individual as a community seemed to have clubbed together to buy them, so just because they were burned by someone in the community at a different time to when someone else wanted them burned surely can't be a literal crime ? The more we find out about these bonfires (extortion to fund them, bullying people to build them, unsafe structures, intimidation of children) the more they need at best regulated (certificates, fire service approval, height restrictions, safe distances from buildings and crowds, etc) if not outright banned.

If it happened in Dublin and Terrorists threatened to assault two 13 year old girls I'd still be pretty appalled. I don't have to agree with the actions of the two children here to know the solution in this case is not better than the problem.

Terrorists using vigilantism is not the solution to anything in a modern Ireland.

It was a bonfire, kids light bonfires in Dublin, bonfires are for kids in normal societies. Is it arson when someone lights a cigar, a gas hob or wood in a stove?

They set something alight which wasn’t theirs, so I think it’s fair that they/ their families had to compensate for it. Nobody was harmed either, just threatened.

Believe me, I did a lot of **** growing up and I deserved punishments and threats. I still think this wasn’t an unreasonable demand, and I have zero interest in bonfires or the NI conflict.

A group of scumbags build an illegal bonfire in your estate, for the laugh you decide to burn it and then get threats that they will break your arms unless you pay 2k - for burning a bonfire that doesn't belong to anyone and should not have been there in the first place.

Are you paying in that case? You've advocated already that it's not unreasonable for scumbags to threaten children and demand money (sure it's only threats) they are not entitled to in the slightest.

The UDA collected £20 per head of membership for pallets plus more for the rent of a digger for the bonfire in Larne. Do I think they rock up to McGregors Timber with their order number in hand ? No. Do I think money changes hands somewhere down the line ? Aye, I do.
