Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    hi folks,friend just bought a small caravan,sold as seen,hes fine with that,there is no power getting to lights,heater ect,he lifted up a seat and found a bunch of wires connected to a box of some sort,he put a (you know one of those screwdriver things that tests for currant ) tester on the brown live wires,and it lit up confirming that power is getting in fron the lead to the house,but nothing works,any ideas?there is also a box there with a dozen or more car like fuses,could they be at fault?

    Really this is far to complex to fault find at a distance. Also there is the small matter of safety since it is mains connected (and lacking a decent earth no doubt). If he hasn't got the competency to identify the fault he certainly hasn't got the skills to correct it safely. I have seen far to many life threateningly bad electrical bodges to feel confident in saying to anyone give it a go. Ask an electrician.

    There's two separate systems, 12v system which is powered by a battery (which must be charged) and will power only lights and water pump. Then, separately there is .240v system which will power water heater, any electric heating and charge the 12v battery .

    After that , no one is going to be able to help much without a decent explanation of the issue

    Even a 12v system has the potential to start a fire, though it sounds as if in this case it has a fuse board for that.

    thanks,we are gonna have a good look at it later on,checking fuses,cables,switches,sockets ect,and putting in a new battery,ill post results later,

    just an update,and thanks all for replys,,battery was shot,so got new one,and a few fuses blown,all good now
