Calf creep feeder

Hi I'm looking for a new creep feeder. Was looking at a fox one on glanbia website but they won't deliver up here. It's for suckler calves. Got 20 years out of the last one. Does anyone have the condon ones with the sort of pen at the front?

Friend has a Watson this 3 years. It's a seriously well built piece of kit.

Down our way A1 engineering in cobh had the best feeders. They are seriously solid .

You might pick up a one for handy money on done deal.

I wouldn’t be too keen about the Condon one with the pen at the front. I somehow imagine rain blowing against the curtain and running into the trough. But, the weather is probably worse around me than it is in other parts of the country.

+1 for the Watson. They are well built with an excellent paint finish. They should be fairly widely available too, as a lot of machinery dealers stock Watson products.

Well wear, it looks decent enough. The galvanise will be a huge advantage. What are the two pieces standing up at the back?

I got that one for 2000. It's galvanised. There are cheaper ones but I think the cows would push them around. They were looking 2200

We find the Advantage feeders a great job with the sheep, you can regulate the amount per head to whatever rate you want.

If I Was back with sucklers I'd definitely have one for them.

Anybody buy a creep feeder lately. Could do with a second one here. The one I have has a full roof on top and I think calves are slow to start going into it. Would they take to the pen type ones a bit faster?

i was going to say yes but it was 5 years ago we got the last one

open ones here find them good just get a galv one and all the creep bars need to be adjustable

Are you happy with this creep feeder? I'm looking for one at the moment. It's these or Condon that's available locally. The Moyfab is €650 more than the Condon….

I have 2feeders and there the older type ones but I will buy another one next year and I'm going to go the Condon one as I'm told cattle lie across through less also they gates can be removed and it can be used for larger cattle

This guy in Galway quoted me €1,700 for a 8 foot feeder back in April this year. 6'6" one was €1,600. I didn't go to look at them but they look well built, in fairness.

If I was buying one, I'd get a galvanised one but also pay attention to how the trough is fixed. It's the trough that rusts first, as the meal holds the moisture and the minerals in it rusts it faster. Having a trough that is easy to replace is a huge bonus.

Condon €1475 in Homeland co-op, which seems like a good price. Moyfab €2150 at a local merchant.
