Volvo XC40 Recharge

I didn't see a thread on these so sorry if one is already available.

I am thinking of buying one of these, the option is this is ID.4

The ID.4 spec is lower and I am almost set on buying the Volvo but just looking for some personal experience. Does anyone own one? any feedback?

I don't believe they technically had to stop at all, they'd have arrived with 0% remaining if they didn't.

The previous person was at 24kWH/100km.

SO they would have got to the location without charging. Stopping off for eating on a journey like that would be safer anyway than a straight drive

I picked up a Volvo XC40 Recharge BEV single motor last week, ordered in April, company car. Love it so far, massive massive upgrade from my 2016 Peugeot 2008 1.2L petrol in every respect, bigger with more space to boot! Have only done about 200km since last Wednesday, but plan a trip to Galway in the next few weeks, that will be interesting. Am not a motor head in any way, and this is my first EV experience, loving it.

I got an XC40 a couple of weeks ago - Is there any point in the plugsurfing account that comes with the car, the rates seem to be more expensive than eCars?

By the way if anyone has any Q's on the car, let me know happy to answer.

Yes, you get much cheaper rates with ionity with the plugsurfing card.

Ionity chargers are the best, fastest, most reliable and have reduncancy due to there being a bank of multiple fast chargers together.

Test drove the XC40 single motor w/Ultimate and Polestar 2 Pilot+Plus back to back today. XC40 is better setup for me personally. this will be a 2nd car, mostly city driving so no massive range requirements.

P2 was great fun to drive but too tight with the centre consol and long legs are not a good setup for the driver - just not comfortable and rear visibility is pretty poor. XC40 was a roomier setup, decent performance w/ 415 km range WLTP and crucially just under the €60k mark to avail of €5k grant with a top spec. P2 with Pilot and Plus (most comparable spec) just tips over €60k so no €5k grant.

XC40 Lead times are into March/April now for those that are considering this EV. Pleasantly surprised with the XC40 Recharge as it wasn't on my EV radar until recently.

Whats your thoughts on the XC40 recharge after the few weeks, am thinking of ordering one, would you recommend? Have had two XC60 diesels over the last 6 years and now thinking of trying the electric route! Would love to hear your experience so far.

I got the XC40 a couple of months ago - Plus points are that it is super comfortable, nice ride, great visibility and with the ultimate spec (which is all that is available with single engine) you get all the extras like powered seats, tailgate, sunroof etc. The single engine still has plenty acceleration and it is no slouch. The negative is that the range is not as great - I'm seeing around 350km at the moment at best, but I dont do long journeys very often so i can deal with that.

Is the configurator wrong? The twin motor is a 10k option for Ultimate, and only gives another 15km range anyway.

The twin motor has a slightly bigger battery AFAIK, as it is less efficient than the single motor, so they end up with more or less the same range.

Single motor has a battery size of 69kwh and is front wheel drive. The twin motor has a battery slightly bigger with 78kwh, is 4WD and more power.

The range of the twin motor is slightly more than the single due to the bigger battery size. I guess they didn't want the more expensive option having less range like the bmw i4.

I dont understand it either -- they would get higher take up on the higher spec P2 Plus for sure. Putting order in for XC40 recharge !

XC40 and C40 with more range (500 Kms+) are launched in Germany. Will not come to dealer as per Dealers in Ireland..

I see that they are basing this off of 16.9 to 17.9 kWh/100km - I wonder how they are achieving that, in real world with the XC40 I see 20 to 23 over extended driving.

I just installed that one last weekend! Bit annoying that it connects to the phone via a custom wireless connection rather than Bluetooth, but looks totally integrated once installed, which is nice.

I got 1K off last Sep when I bought - however I see now on the website that the XC40 ultimate single motor is at €65K and the Plus is at €61K as they have changed to RWD for the single motor with claimed extended range.

Not sure what Volvo are doing with the existing stock of single motors and if you are saying you got offered 1K is that on the new model or not?
