You could get by today or tomorrow. Keep eye on your tesla account. It would show up as proof of registration. It won't show on app.

Anyone has an idea on getting a temporary insurance. I would need to keep my old car for a week so would need atleast 1 more week of insurance.

so thinking of getting a temp insurance for a week or 10 days for M3.

Sent over a small payment of €500 without the RN # on Monday. Sent them transaction receipt to get them to allocate it to my account without success so far.

Anyone else experience of how long it’ll take to get them to sort?

I asked this of Axa a few days before pick up as I was in the process of selling my car privately. The guy on the phone said they would cover my old car for 7 days after I switched if I requested it (he didn't seem 100% confident after I was put on hold a few times, so I was a bit skeptical). Luckily in the end I sold my car on the same day I picked up my M3.

i call anpost and they said that won't work.

the other option i have now is buy an insurance for my old car from 123.ie and cancel it within the cooling period of 14days.

i need the car for 4 days hence would be going through this hassle

Reg documents came in today ahead of Monday's collection of my MYLR after giving the chat team a gentle nudge. No hassle swapping over insurance with AIG (apart from a hefty additional premium!)

same my reg came , got the insurance sorted.

motor tax database still not updated so not able to get it sorted for now.

    collection on monday for m3

No. They will unassign the car from you and assign not to next in line.

Looking forward to collection on Monday. Processed a payment transfer from the credit union last Friday which still hasn't been applied to my account but I have been assured it will be. Recieved reg today and called 123.ie and insurance changed over in about 10mins. Disc to take with me for Monday via email. Some of the transfers seem to be taking ages to process.

We are having this issue too. One of our incremental payments went through without RN. They’ve located the payment but still not allocated it to our account. Worried about our scheduled collection next week being affected 😬

This would surely work, cars in Sandyford were mostly UK reg vehicles and you could agree they had different rear suspension to what you ordered. Equally if you ordered a dual motor and had test drove a RWD etc.

I did same for 10k. Took approximately 2 weeks to sort it but my delivery is not until next Monday so they nay expedite if sooner

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 220 ✭✭Penname

Two weeks? Yikes 😬 Fingers crossed they’ll sort it sooner. Selling my current car next week.

Picked her up today! In and out in 20 minutes. No noticeable issues. Absolutely love driving it! Supercharged in Enfield and Athenry on the way home (home charger isn’t installed yet). Had some great time to chill with Disney + on 😁

Just received my reg for a Monday pickup. It’s real now!

But it looks like there is a surplus of cars. There are 3 LRY in inventory, not selling. Maybe I should chance it ?

Little chance of succeeding.in getting Tesla to agree to extend beyond 30th June. Tesla has never agreed to extend a delivery beyond a quarter end (30th June). They move heaven and earth to ensure that all available cars are sold (and delivered ) so that they don't carry over Inventory. It relates as much to reporting to the stock market as their Accounting policies only permit recognising revenue if car is paid and delivered.. That is not to say that they can achieve this but it is highly unlikely that they would agree and set a precedent. More likely that "Showroom discounts and(or) free supercharging miles would appear as incentives but this will be on basis of taking delivery by 30th June.

Someone on the Tesla Ireland Facebook group had a 3rd July delivery date booked. Tesla contacted them to say it was an error and that if the car wasn’t collected by end of June it would be reallocated to another customer. You run the risk of losing the car and hoping those inventory models are still there in July.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,688 ✭✭✭DataDude

It would be interesting alright. They have far more than 3 MYLRs in inventory, almost certainty. They don’t list more than two duplicates. Add in all the cancellations they’ll get these week (mine included) - they’ll have a tonne of MYLRs with no customers so not sure they’d cancel your order.

They may just do it to make sure they don’t set a precedent, but they definitely won’t have anyone else to sell your car too unless they do some major sales next week.

If you do try it, let us know how you get on. If I didn’t have a discounted car, there’s 0 chance id be paying full price for a car on 30th June.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,189 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Hold tight, they’re likely to have plenty cars left to sell in July with all the orders that have been cancelled recently. Someone who picked up recently may have seen how much stock is sitting there? Car sales aren’t a priority for most over the next few weeks as holiday season kicks in.

I am collecting MYLR next Thursday (it is fully paid). I presume if you delay they would allocate car to somebody else. In that case what happens to the 5K SEAI grant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭rx8

Maybe it becomes a 3.5k grant, and they tell you to pay €1500 more if you want to collect the car.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,947 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Grant will be valid for 4 months once car assigned before end of June, but your also correct in saying if they order the car in inventory on 1st July, price will be €1500 more expensive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 jcount

I dont see any way to get a 232 reg without loosing that €1,500.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,189 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Time will tell but most non Tesla EV’s going on 232 plates in next few weeks are all getting the full €5K off. Tesla could do the same but their focus is on Q2 sales numbers rather than what reg plate and grant reduction a customer may want. They just don’t get the system here yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,017 ✭✭✭JOL1

It helps if you understand the Tesla business model They don't have a dealership and can only reflect a sale in their financial accounts once car is delivered to customer, hence the focus on shifting cars at each quarter end(30 June). Also they wont register car until last minute, once customer has paid in full and delivery date confirmed. Its easy to understand why this is the case as customers only have to pay a deposit of 250 with many people placing orders for multiple vehicles with the intention of cancelling at the last minute. Just some of the reasons my comparisons with dealerships, while maybe interesting, are not so relevant

I get their business model but I don’t get the logic. I’m not an accountant but if a car is paid for in full, surely thats a sale and should count commercially for Q2 sales numbers. What subsequent day the car is registered on behalf of the customer or even collected should not be relevant.
