Of course it’s not. It takes a few days. Same for any other car being registered in the state and posted 100’s of times in this thread alone.

Now less grumpy and enjoy the collection

I got the reg for mine at about 12:45 shortly after I replied to a text from Tesla reminding me about the collection tomorrow (as if I was going to forget!!??).

Gate B and confirm they have Tesla signs (ignore Gate A on route) when I picked up on 9th, unless as in quoted comment, it's changed the last few days.

Just had a very interesting call with Aviva apparently they won’t insure any Tesla as new business 😧

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 438 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

Things must have changed in a week. Have u had a claim in the past 5 years?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,376 ✭✭✭Thumper Long

Never a claim for or against, license is spotless, no points, NCB forever, you can’t choose Tesla as make online, put the reg in and it finds the correct car but system doesn’t progress, so rang them up, phone agent couldn’t do anything so referred to the underwriters, in fairness rang back within an hour, and don’t insure as new business! Apparently the scarcity of a repair network outside of Tesla seems to be an issue for them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 438 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

They were insuring 2 weeks ago and were the cheapest in the market at that point. Mad.

I got an online quote from them about 2 weeks back. Competitive but I stuck with Allianz for now.

Aye went on the recommendation of eagerev seemed very good value, I just wanted to get a few quotes to be armed for when I have to make my switch permanent this week, I have a feeling they will put the boot in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭whykay

My broker got me RSA as the best option & quote.

I was with Allianz for quite awhile with my honda before I changed vehicle to Tesla. I'm still currently with Allianz with an interim insurance for my Tesla till next week when my insurance for this year with them ends.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,376 ✭✭✭Thumper Long

Thanks did Allianz hit you with an increase? I’m on temp cover with them till this Saturday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,103 ✭✭✭...Ghost...

I may have already said this, but Allianz basically doubled my policy coming from a 24 Leaf. I had paid for my policy weeks before knowing the Tesla would arrive and it was actually only active on the Leaf for 1 day when I paused it. Went from basic of 320 to about 610 + around 70 worth of optional extras. My insurance hasn't been that high in years.

Dem Basterds, I’ll get a few quotes tomorrow then ring them for a price and see if it’s worth cancelling etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Redfox25

Alliance doubled my policy when I added the m3.

Ended up cancelling the policy and starting a new one elsewhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭whykay

I didn't ask, I normally go with whatever the best quote & cover they come back for me. Just time with RSA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,376 ✭✭✭Thumper Long

Cost me €45 to add the M3 to the policy till next Feb so not too bad was expecting worse, but in reality I would have hoped for a reduction given the car is much safer etc than the Cupra, I’m guessing potential repair costs play a big factor

Pick-up complete, after the saga getting the registration, I have to say the actual pickup was as easy as could be.

You enter the pickup area through Gate B, the Eircode will take you to Gate A, drive past this to the next roundabout and left, you are there. There is a Tesla sign at the roundabout.

When I arrived my app pinged to say I had access to a new vehicle. I parked up the old Model 3 SR+. The guy working there was very nice, he took the keys and registration certificate which I signed in his presence, and that was that.

The car is perfect. Panel gaps are fine (to my non ocd panel gap mind)

It was very clean inside/out. Few water marks either from a rain shower or a sloppy detail (tut tut)

Gave it a good check over, all the trim was secure.

    In comparison to the 2022 SR+ :

It's def quieter. Centre console is just miles better, that piano black plastic was a nightmare. Powered boot is nice. Frunk closes/latches WAYYYY easier. The mats from my old SR+ (Taptes all weather) do not fit as well. The frunk is slightly smaller due to the heat pump. I mean it fits...just not "like a glove.." Internal and boot mats all fine. The ones that come with it are in my garage if someone wants to DM me! The acceleration is frantic, completely bonkers it just keeps going and going. The SR+ would taper off very quickly, even on 40% state of charge it was insane. Great to see lots of happy owners picking up their cars today. The lady beside me had the biggest smile i've seen in ages, her mam was taking photos :D I love the blue, looks great in the sunshine!

I collected my M3 this afternoon.

All was good. No obvious misaligned panels or rear lights. The car was very clean. It had 30km on it and was charged to 39%.

Now the big learning curve starts!!

Any one have any issue where the aero cover on one of the wheels pops out? has happened to me 3 times now on the front right,

will rotate them to see if its the wheel or the cover.

How did you get those alloys? Didn't see them as an option

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,376 ✭✭✭Thumper Long

They are only For those lucky enough to have bought a performance model 😭

i wouldn’t be having them, they impact your range 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 col_keaney

Speaking of range, what kms are the RWD getting on full charge? I think mine is 439 km - was expecting better from the spec.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,448 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

Yes. Happened me once on the passenger side rear. Kicked it back in and been fine since

I've got 300km of motorway driving out of it. One of the first things I do when buying any tesla is to change the display from km to %.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,355 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Every RWD in the country is programmed to say 439km ay 100%.

Now go out and try get that :)

    Change to % IMO.
