Hi again, on train to Dublin to collect my Y , unable to tax the car as it’s not recognised on system yet, insurance company had no such issue, only concern is on the collection confirmation document Tesla sent for me to sign and return, it says the car can not be taxed later than collection form signed or SEAI won’t be processed, typical that one arm of the state isn’t working properly in tandem with the other

No one has received a VIN since February, and those are all the people picking up in the next few days.

Some employees at Tesla have said another ship will come in Q2, others have said not until Q3.

Some employees at Tesla have said the EDD being pushed out was a software glitch, others have said it wasn't.

My EDD of April/May was pushed out to July 27th - September 30th.

If it was indeed a software glitch and they will be moved back, then at the earliest you can expect a VIN in April. If the pushed out dates are correct, then at the earliest you can expect a VIN in July. You'll just need to be patient.

Is that moved back from the date initially being pushed out?

    Or is that from April/May?

Picked up our Y in Baldonnel this morning. We arrived early and by 9:30 there was a queue of ten or fifteen groups of people waiting to collect. A hive of activity with cars being brought up to the front car park and getting reg plates fitted.

It took about 15 minutes to get seen and the Tesla app went live while we were queueing so the handover itself took less than two minutes. The app was reporting a charge of 24% and the interior temp 13°C. Turned on the AC remotely and set it to 21°C which it reached in a matter of minutes.

A quick inspection and everything looked fine, usb in the glovebox, cables and mats in the boot, paint and gaps were perfect and off we went after a few minutes messing around with the screen. Drove to Sandyford and did our first supercharge. So cool. Reversed in, lifted the charge handle and pressed the button, port opened and plugged in. Light turned blue to green and that was it. Initial charge was @120kw (on 15 minutes of pre-heat from baldonnel) so we watched YouTube and the kids played games.

Driving overall was fantastic, such an effortless way to travel, especially with one pedal and autopilot, simply brilliant. Autopilot needed calibration on first use and it was done by the time we reached the M50. Feels great and all a bit surreal.

If you are waiting patiently, rest assured it will soon be behind you and it will all have been worth it.

Don’t be worrying about motor tax. You can sort that later or tomorrow or next week.

Again, you can tax it later. Today is Monday. The first working day of the week following a bank holiday weekend. Any car registered from Thursday will begin processing today.

Was up in Tesla this morning asking a few questions before we decide to stick or twist.

They said they have been told that there will be a Q2 shipment and they seemed fairly certain about at least that.

So although date ranges are shifting around at the moment, Apr-Jun for all is consistent with a Q2 delivery.

They also said that for those with 2 orders, to take the RWD you have, rather than the LR you don't.

Thanks for sharing the update josip.

If they're certain about Q2 shipment, is there any reason why they recommended people with 2 orders to take RWD now, instead of waiting a bit longer for the LR which is supposed to arrive in June the latest?

Hopefully it's purely down to them trying to avoid their Q1 sales target being impacted by potential cancellation of RWD cars, and has nothing to do with them not being very confident about Q2 shipment.

Given the way Tesla operates if there is a Q2 and I hope there is for everyone waiting, I would be shocked if it’s before June as they will want to maximise their quarter deliveries here by selling as many cars as possible before Q3 and they can’t do that with an earlier delivery window, they also risk losing business if there is a major change to the grant that affects orders across quarters , madness to think that we don’t know what’s happening in just over 3 months time

Reg numbers for tomorrow's collection starting to appear:)

Another confusing experiencie from this overall confusing process. They attached 2 new "versions" of the invoice, one of them showing a lower VRt and a lower outstanding amount. I financed for a higher amount, but now it seems the amount left is less than the one I applied finance for.

    All very confusing...

Concern arose from the fact the Tesla collection confirmation document I had to sign and email back stated that in order for SEAI grant to be facilitated, you had to have car taxed no later than collection date

Standard terms in EV sales. It was the same when I bought from Kia and VW.

It’s to ensure private tax to get the grant. Had to do the same for the taxis. Tax for 3 months privately at the start.

My cancelled MY RWD (white with black interior) left my account this afternoon so should be offered to someone this afternoon.

I think the "take the RWD" recommendation is the zero-risk recommendation from Tesla's perspective. With that approach, there is no chance of Karen/Ken coming back berating them for being left without a shiny new Tesla before the grant change. They can't know 'how much' more each of us would want an LR versus a RWD and how to evaluate the risk of not getting any car compared to not getting the optimal car.

In our case, we see it as only 2 months more uncertainty if we twist and hold out for the LR. If we stick and take the RWD, then every time in coming years that we have to make a range-related adjustment to our trip, the little voice in the back of the head will be going, "should have held on for the LR..." 🙂

Jasna, yep saw that and I can only hope that your range too reverts to Apr-Jun soon. I think you ordered Feb 2? That should have been in plenty of time for the Q2 batch production.

FWIW I emailed them about my order (July-Oct) just to see what they said.

Got a call back nearly straight away (I have found them good to deal with that way in fairness) and the guy on the phone was very strongly of the opinion that there would be a Q2 delivery and that there would be no issues or concerns with claiming the full amount of the grant.

I mean, it could well be the same person that @josip was speaking with but they were very clear and committed on the phone.

Looks like it came to me, just saw vin on my account, I changed my wheels back to standard at the weekend. So looks like I’m in same situation as @josip now. Stick or twist for LR. :)

after a perfect collection process last week for MY in Baldonnel last week, can only describe collecting a M3 this morning as horrendous - nearly 3 hours waiting and the car was filthy inside & out 😔 I'll leave it at that for the moment as I discuss as resolution with Tesla
