Move if in wrong section. I just want to hear people's experience on burning CD's? Weird one. I bought a 50 pack of blank CD-R. I tried 2 blank CD-R's to burn music, won't work, make is Verbatim. I tried a Philips CD-R to copy the exact same songs and it worked. I'm using windows 10.

Does the burn session begin and run for the same amount of time as the Philips CD-R? After the disc burns have you tried them in different cd players? When you put the burned CD in the PC do any files at all show up on it or is it the same as a blank CD?

Quality wise Verbatim would be as good if not better classed than Philips in the CD duplication market, I've used both without issue.

OMG CD burning :) Some CD players will have trouble with CD-R, especially old ones. Back in the day when I was burning CDs for the car CD player the advice was to burn them at the lowest possible speed, I don't know if it makes any difference or not.

The lower speed meant less errors when writing the CDs, as far as I can remember. I still have a bunch of blanks left from back in the day, as I stopped using them eventually.

No, the Philips CD-R burned straight away whereas the Verbatim only burned about 6-7% and then and error. Everything showed up when I burned the songs to Philips CD-R. No problem

Where did you buy the blanks? A lot of stock of them in shops these days are Very Very Very Old and may just be bad as a result. CDRs do not last forever.

Do you remember how CD-R and CD writers were extremely expensive, then they became cheap and ubiquitous, and now almost no one use them anymore? That's being old :)

@leemaree it's probably the blanks as said above, either old and rotten or new but from a bad batch. Try to burn at a lower speed, maybe it helps.

Yep, the same thing would happen to me with a lot of cds for no reason. But ever since I bought the external DVD BURNER it never happens, even with the cheap discs.. I think it was the amount of memory and CPU usage being used that would cause the errors. Wdu reckon???

i dunno if this seems stupid, but are u checking that ur burning for an AUDIO CD (80mins) and not A DATA CD (mp3 files that wont play on cd players, only computers)??

They should be OK there. Its more small local shops (and supermarkets) that could have ancient stock.

Can you try burning a data disc to one to see if they're OK with that? Data has even less error correction than CD audio as far as I remember.

Try burning 1 song to a CD to see what happens. Also try another CD with a single Word or similar file on it. See if either works. I'd be inclined to think a bad batch if neither of those works.

What software are you using to burn the discs?

Nero was always my favourite program to do it on windows, and I use Burn on Mac with no issues, also using verbatim CDs I got from Argos around Xmas time

I tried Nero, Img Burn, Express Burn Disc Burning Software, CD Burner XP. That's the CDs I have is Verbatim. I bought 100 of them and probably can't return them as I have shredded about 4 of them cause they wouldn't burn

If you're getting failures during burning it's either the writer or the discs. Or the combination of both, maybe the discs will work fine with CD writer, and you already said you can burn other discs. If you can test with another writer you will know for sure if the discs are bad or not.

Just out of curiosity, why are you doing audio CDs from mp3? You won't get any quality improvements.

I used Verbatim for a number of years then stopped.

Bought a 50 pack last year and only 20% burn successfully. Loads of failures & coasters. Quality of them has gone down a lot - seems to be a number of negative reviews on Amazon UK.
