Planning for storing machinery

Hi all,

I’m just wondering if anyone has any insight into would planning would be required for purchasing land and storing heavy machinery on it?

The land is question is an old delapadated house. In future years it may be a great site for one of my children to build on but in the mean time I’d like to story my machinery and equipment on it? I’m just wondering if there is any planning required?

Its not in an urban area, but there are lots of houses nearby who I’m sure won’t be too pleased with this so I want to make sure I don’t need planning etc before purchasing

Are you planning to build storage or just store out in the open?

Store out in the open. I'll have to knock and demolish the existing building

Local agri contractor bought acre site built house but ran into big problems trying for planning for sheds ,the easiest way that he got around this was he got a herdnumber and he bought 3 calves

And a fella not too far from me built massive sheds under planning permission for agricultural stores. Got away with renting them out as industrial units to a few businesses for a few years but when the council shut him down he couldn't pay back the costs and the banks took the place off him.

Am also aware of another fella who bought a field who was denied permission for an "agricultural shed" as he couldn't prove he needed it. (He wasn't a farmer)
