Hi all, considering a bike to buy post-IBT, and I also need to find details etc for doing a mock insurance quote.

Are there any websites that go through all the current and older makes/models and gives specifications for them?

www.motorcyclespecs.co.za . It's a South African site but they list a comprehensive set of details on most Bikes (stuff like Seat Height, Suspension Travel, etc.) The MCN site is good for reviews also, but their specs can be a bit hit and miss (Top Speed seems to be 120mph on a load of Bikes......😁)

alot of the UK sites will give the insurance category of a motorcycle,

This is one i got off a quick google. 1 is cheap insurance and 17 is don't even consider it.

The insurance company will take into account your age and address too though.

many sites look for a registration number to get a quote. When you find a model, go on DoneDeal and use the reg of one of that model on there.

We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

God, I remember doing that nearly 20 years ago, BIKE magazine was brilliant, had all the models, power, weight and grouping, guess we haven't come very far.

Do the Insurance companies even have a database of bikes?

I remember when I was getting quotes on my CBR650F, I gave them the reg and they didn't have any info, they said all they go off was the Engine cc.
